One of the most beautiful steps in the journey is discovering who you are and what you want out of life.
I thought that Valentine’s Day was the perfect day for this tip because choosing yourself is the ultimate form of love.
Choosing yourself isn’t selfish, it’s what allows you to give and serve those around you wholeheartedly.

One of the best lessons I learned in life is that you can’t pour from an empty tank.
I used to be so caught up in pleasing others that I had no idea what I wanted for myself at times.
This month, take some time to sit with yourself and learn something about yourself. Something that lights a spark inside of you. It could be as simple as discovering you like 15 minutes of quiet time with a cup of tea.
Whatever it is, find it, and protect that time with a boundary so that you can honor and love yourself 💕.

A big part of what I love about creating a healthy balance in life is that it gives you the chance to uncover your gifts.
Writing this book was not only for children to have a fun story but for kids and parents alike to understand the value of honesty and patience.

This tip piggybacks on the lesson of the power behind saying no. The best way to avoid burnout is understanding and respecting when you’ve reached capacity, this includes family and friends. If you don’t have it in you, simply say so. How they react is up to them, you have to take care of yourself in order to have healthy relationships.
Choose yourself today.

Daily Practice Tip 2: List 3 things you’re grateful for each day.

Even if you are having a tough season in life, there’s always something to be grateful for.

For me, while I have several changes in my life coming and I’ll miss a lot of what I’m used to,I’m grateful for the adventure ahead. I’m grateful for the warmth of the sun this winter morning. I’m also grateful for my fur friends that keep pests away from my house.

What are you grateful for today?

As a giver, it took me a long time to embrace the power of saying no. I aim to please, but I lost the idea of taking care of myself somewhere along the way. What’s been your experience telling someone no that maybe expected a yes? I’ll leave mine in the comments.

One of my favorite things when I was a photographer was having clients come in from out of state.
I’ve always been big on women choosing themselves and pampering themselves. When they’d come in town to see me, I insisted that they make a trip out of it.
This is something I recommend to every woman. Take a trip for yourself, even if it’s in your own city, get at least a whole day to yourself. No expectations, no responsibilities, and bring a journal.
The best way to get to know who you are is to spend time with yourself.
Have you ever done this? What was it like?

I love taking the time to make vision boards each year. It’s not a wish list for me, it’s a map to keep me on track.
When you have a tangible/visual list, it’s easier to achieve your goals. I like to put mine right next to my bed so that I can see it every time I wake up.
When your goals are just in your head, it’s easier to not be accountable and you’re likely to not make things happen.
What’s a method you use to stay on track? Did you make a vision board this year?

Something I noticed this year that I never noticed before is that I am a hard worker. You'd be surprised the traps that you fall into when you compare yourself to others. I think I'm blessed to know some very hardworking people that have kept me at my best for my years in business by keeping my aim high.
I have learned the hard way many times that you can't be someone else. You never know what drives someone else to work as hard as they do. You have to do what works for you.
I have had to set healthy boundaries for myself time and time again and extend grace to myself as my body and mind change.
The formula changes as you go, but I'm happy to have a set of core values that keep me grounded.
