Candle season is officially here 🍂 And we get the appeal. The glow, the pumpkin spice, the whole cozy evening ritual.
But here’s what most people don’t realize: that flicker comes with a side of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and fine soot particles. They linger in your indoor air long after you blow the candle out. And if you’ve ever lit a candle to unwind and ended up with a headache instead, that’s not in your head. Strong fragrances can irritate the nerves in your face and head, and for a lot of people that shows up as headaches, stuffiness, or just feeling “off.”
Fall and winter make it worse. Windows stay shut, heaters kick on, and everything we burn, cook, and spray stays trapped inside with us.🫣
The good news is that cozy was never about the scent. It’s the blanket, the tea, the slow evening, and the peace of mind that the air you’re breathing is actually clean. 🫶🏼🏡
