Pickerington Local School District is focused on Educating for Tomorrow. This means our schools are preparing students for both the opportunities and challenges ahead as they pursue college and career after graduation. Educating for Tomorrow, investing in our students with technology, resources and highly-qualified staff is our competitive advantage at Pickerington Local Schools. Pickerington is a top-choice destination district in Central Ohio. As the 15th largest district in the state, Pickerington educates 10,850 students each year in 14 buildings, a preschool, alternative school and Virtual Learning Academy. The district posts some impressive results academically, including a four-year graduation rate of 95.3 percent of our students, earning the district an “A+” on the state report card. Students also have an opportunity to access countless extracurricular activities including arts, music, drama, sports teams and student interest clubs. None of this would be possible without the world-class staff at Pickerington Local Schools. Pickerington Local Schools ranks No. 25 out of 607 Ohio school districts when comparing operating expenditures to academic performance.

So, what does “expenditures per equivalent pupil” mean? It’s not simply what we spend on each individual student. Ohio’s calculation adjusts student counts based on differences in educational needs and looks specifically at operating expenditures—not capital projects or debt interest.

The takeaway: This measure provides a more meaningful way to compare how districts use operating resources while accounting for differences in the students they serve.
