04/24/2026

📃 If your middle schooler has state testing soon… this is what they WISH they could say to you 😂

The night before testing doesn’t need to be stressful…for them OR for you.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is keep it simple, keep it calm, and let them show up confident.

Parents… be honest…
Which one are you? 👀

Growth: Let Them Struggle 🌱

It’s not easy to watch our kids struggle, our instinct is to step in and fix it.

But growth happens when they work through challenges, not around them.

Try supporting without solving:
👂 Listen first, without jumping in
❓ Ask guiding questions: “What do you think you could try?”
⏳ Give them time to figure it out
💬 Remind them: “I’m here if you need me”

We’re not stepping back, we’re standing beside them while they grow.

Growth: 🌱 Progress > Perfection ✨

It’s easy to stress over the grades, but middle school is all about learning resilience. Think of your kid like this resilient stress toy…(you know…the one you are looking everywhere for)….they’re under pressure, but they’re designed to be flexible and bounce back!

Stop stressing the 100 and start celebrating the GROWTH. 📈

Follow Survive the Middle for more tips on keeping your sanity (and theirs) during these crazy years!

Growth 🌱

Middle school growth doesn’t just challenge our kids, it challenges us too.

This month we’re exploring how to support their growth while learning when to guide, when to push, and when to simply let them grow.

Love: Managing Middle School Friendships 🩷

Friendship is a huge part of middle school, the ups and the downs.

🔄 Friendships change often, that's okay. Help them understand that these changes are a normal part of growing.
👂️Social situations are hard. Listen without judgment, and ask before offering advice.
💡 Teach healthy communication. Practice phrases like: “I feel hurt when…”, “I need some space.”
😡 Don’t let one argument create an enemy. Middle school emotions run high, remind them that conflict doesn’t define the whole friendship.
⚽️ Build identity beyond one friendship. Hobbies, sports, and clubs help confidence stay steady, even when friendships shift.
👥 Practice being a good friend. Respect boundaries. Include others. Make people feel safe. Encourage them to be the friend they’d want to have.

Love: Self-Love 🩷

Self-love grows from the story we tell ourselves.
And that story is shaped by the voices we hear the most.

Be the loud, steady voice in your middle schooler’s life,
the one reminding them who they are and that they are enough.

Love: Loving through Discipline 🩷

Middle schoolers may not say it out loud, but they know this:
Discipline = love with boundaries.

If you're parenting with consistency and heart, this one is for you.

Let’s Reset. 🧭

The last few weeks have been full: snow days, schedule changes, and plans that didn’t go as expected.

That’s real life in the middle years...and just, real life!

This month, we’re resetting and moving forward together. 💛
