What a great weekend for Chris Aguirre! Chris competed in the South Carolina North/South All Star Competition at North Myrtle Beach. Chris is the first Blue Flame wrestler to be invited to this competition since CB Barret in 2008!

Chris had the final match of the 3rd/4th place dual, and with his team down by 4 points, Chris needed to win in big fashion. He was able to do just that, securing a pin with a second period assassin! This clinched the win for his team, and was the perfect end to his high school career! Go Blue Flame!

Congratulations to our wrestlers who fought hard this weekend at the State Tournament. Senior Chris Aguirre was able to cap his final season off placing second in the state in a very competitive bracket. Chris is the first Pickens wrestler to place this high at the State Tournament since our previous head coach, Brett Brezeale, did in 2016! Chris, as well as Ethan Ramsey, Daniel Dominguez, and Miguel Chanico-Martinez, represented the Blue Flame with pride and dignity, and they are well deserving of their accolades. Thank you to all the parents, assistant coaches, and sponsors for your incredible support this season, we could not have done it without you. Go Blue Flame!

The Blue Flame just finished up wrestling at the 4A Upper State tournament and a huge shout out to these 11 guys for all their hard work and dedication this season, not to mention every other wrestler in our room who helped them train for this moment. Four wrestlers were able to punch their ticket to the state tournament in Florence next weekend: Ethan Ramsey (8th at 150), Daniel Dominguez (4th at 157), Chris Aguirre (Upper State Champion at 175), and Miguel Martinez (3rd at 190). While these four are celebrating this great accomplishment, their attention now turns to making a statement next weekend! Go Blue Flame!

Congratulations to Sabastian Galloway, Henry Chapman, and Jax Weis for all the hard work and effort they put on display yesterday at the Carolina Invitational (MS/JV State)! Despite fighting through the adversity of postponements and going nearly a week without being able to practice due to winter weather, the boys fought and battled and made the Blue Flame proud. Henry Chapman was able to place 3rd and Jax Weis finished 2nd! The future of Blue Flame wrestling is looking bright!

HUGE shout out to our Varsity guys for a great showing at the Region 2 AAAA Tournament. Congratulations to Chris Aguirre (175) and Miguel Chanico-Martinez (190) for taking 1st place, Daniel Dominguez (157) for taking 2nd, and Braelyn Webb (138) and Ethan Ramsey (150) for taking 3rd. Now the team will turn their focus to preparing for the AAAA Upperstate Tournament in hopes of qualifying for the State Tournament! Go Blue Flame!

So proud of our Middle school and JV guys wrestling at the Upperstate Qualifier today! 3 out of 3 punched their ticket to the Carolina Invitational! Congratulations to Sabastian Galloway (126 MS 3rd place), Henry Chapman (165 JV Champ, with a tech fall in the finals!), and Jax Weis (175 JV 4th place). Can’t wait to see yall compete next Saturday for a JV/MS state title!

We had a great Senior Night last night! All of the seniors on the boys varsity team won by pin in their final match at home, and in the Blue Flame’s first region match of the season. We appreciate all of the hard work these young men, women, and parents have poured into our program. Go Blue Flame!
