2nd year students enjoyed the end of the year cook-out that was cooked and served by our grill-masters Coach Childs, Mr. Byrd, Mr. Raverty, and Coach G! Mrs. Rester made sure all the students had every fixin' they needed for a good ole fashioned picnic. Along with Mrs. Bond, Mrs. Turnage, Mrs. Wells and Mrs. Wolfe this is a great day of giving back to those students who work so hard. We spend a lot of time teaching and bonding with these students (some, for over 4 years), we are all truly a family by the time we say, see ya later. So proud of these kids and all the accomplishments and contacts they have made by being a part of our "vo-tech family." We love you all and will miss every single one of you.

Our Engineering II students displayed their capstone projects last week. The projects gave them the opportunity to create something that reflected their interests. The students created all of their own files in Soldiworks and 3D printed the project using classroom equipment. The students problem solved the project goals and worked under many constraints. Mrs. Rester led them through the goals, constraints, bill of materials, and success and failures. The students documented such on their display boards.
Help us in congratulating and honoring these students who have worked diligently for 2 years with Mrs. Rester's engineering program.

Student of the month celebration for January and February was held in the CATC conference room yesterday. The students were treated to Picayune Donuts and a drink, along with their certificates and t-shirts. We are always so incredibly proud of all of our students. Join us in congratulating our students of the month, they deserve it!!

The members of the National Technical Society were inducted this morning in the PJHS Library. Since the original date was postponed due to weather, Mrs. Nail (advisor), Ms. Jenkins (co-advisor), and Ms. Smith (director) prepared an informal induction with sausage biscuits, morning goodies, juice, and happy bags for our inductees to enjoy. The students individually received their honors and were able to celebrate each other on a personal level. Big thanks to Mrs. Nail for always being able to "pivot" when changes come her way. We appreciate her and all of our inductees. RTR!

This is the second year that engineering instructor, Chrissy Rester has received a $4,000 Ingalls Shipbuilding Future Shipbuilder STEM grant.

Ingalls Shipbuilding hosted its 16th annual STEM Grant Award Ceremony, distributing over $95,000 to 22 schools in South Mississippi and Alabama!

Please join us in congratulating our engineering instructor, Chrissy Rester, on receiving an Ingalls Shipbuilding Future Shipbuilder STEM grant in the amount of $4,000. She attended the awards breakfast today at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula to receive the accolades.
The grant proposal titled, "Wired for the Future," will equip high school engineering students with hands-on experience in basic electrical systems using new soldering irons, safety mats with magnifiers, bulk soldering consumables, and 35-in-1 digital lab exploration kits with breadboards. The project's purpose is to help students safely explore the fundamentals of circuit design, soldering, and component testing through applied STEM learning that connects directly to real-world engineering and manufacturing careers. This project builds both technical skill and confidence in problem-solving and design.
If this grant doesn't give us another reason to say ROLL TIDE ROLL, nothing will!

Thank you to PRCC Hancock County Center for allowing some of our students to tour their 6 programs. Our students gleaned information about: Aviation Maintenance, Unmanned Ariel Systems, Hydrography, Manufacturing Maintenance Technology, Industrial Electronics, and Welding & Cutting Technology. If you or your student would like more information on the PRCC Hancock Co Campus, do not hesitate to give them a call! Students also visited with industry representatives to learn more about finding a career in the toured fields.
We look forward to growing with the PRCC Hancock Co Center in the near future.

Many of our 2nd year Carpentry, Architecture & Drafting, Automotive Services Technology, and Engineering students, along with Mrs. Esslinger's Bridge to Career students toured Camp Shelby. The tour was under the direction of Sgt. Joshua Smith, a recruiter for the Mississippi Army National Guard.
