Satori Dojo Martial Arts and Karate Instruction for Kids and Adults in Phoenixville, PA

Since 1994, hundreds of students and adults in Phoenixville and the surrounding communities have benefited from Satori Dojo, not only from the physical activity normally associated with martial arts training, but also from the sense of community we provide for our students, and the tremendous personal growth in such areas as self-control, determination, modesty, and a having a non-defeatest attitude. Beginning with our youngest students (age 6), we teach social skills, such as the importance of being patient, friendly, courteous, and compassionate. We specifically teach how to avoid conflict, and how to verbally de-escalate a potential confrontation, important skills for people of all ages.

Begin p**n sao rolling with left f**k sao over right tan sao/b**g sao. As you shift your right hand from tan sao into b**g sao, use your left f**k sao to press the opponent’s right tan sao towards the centerline (1). Reach over top of your partner’s arm with your right hand to hook his right elbow from the outside, pulling it towards his centerline, to turn his centerline away from you (2). Maintain the check on your partner’s right arm as you disengage your left hand to attack with a low side palm to the opponent’s floating rib.

We’re saddened to hear that Phoenix Karate is closing. They have been part of our local martial arts community for many years, and we want to thank their instructors for the time and care they’ve given their students.

To Phoenix Karate students and families looking for a new place to train: you’re welcome to visit us at Satori Martial Arts in the Phoenixville Rec Center. Satori has been a nonprofit dojo for 35+ years. We believe training should be accessible, there are no contracts, testing or belt fees.

We’re extending our enrollment through October so you have time to come by, meet us, and see if Satori feels like the right place for you. We’d be glad to welcome you.

Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 6:00-6:45pm for kids class and 7:00-8:30pm for adults. Teens 14 and older are welcome to attend the adult class. For more information feel free to reach out to Master Joe Varady at 610-933-5519 or email at [email protected].
