Acacia Families! SAVE THE DATE!

Our annual "Open House with Food Trucks" is happening on Wednesday, September 18th, 4:30-6:30!
From 4:30-5:30, you can choose from a variety of Food Truck menus and visit with friends and family. From 5:30-6:30, the building will be open for families to visit classrooms and take home something their child worked on in class.🤩🤩🤩We love having parents be able to come in and visit the many classrooms your child visits each week!

Often, grandparents join us for the fun, and we love meeting them, also!
We can't wait to see you all for an evening of fun!

We have the most amazing business and faith partners and now have a staff parent partner! Mr. and Mrs. McLendon (yes, Ms. McLendon's parents), had a large pallet of school supplies donated from Staples!
Just so thoughtful and appreciated!
THANK YOU Mr. and Mrs. McLendon for the generous donation! ❤️

🌟 Exciting News 🌟

We're thrilled to announce that Ms. Hollingsworth and Mr. John, two incredible members of our local PTA unit, were honored with well-deserved awards at the PTA convention this past June. It was such a privilege to present them with these recognitions at Meet The Teacher night this past Thursday.

Acacia is incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated and passionate staff and volunteers like them, who go above and beyond every day. Thank you, Ms. Hollingsworth and Mr. John, for all the big and small things you do for our school community! 🍎💫

Each week during the school year we love to celebrate or Acacia Way PBIS Program. We have SO many students earning tickets each week for exemplary behavior that we had to have "2nd Chance" drawings at the end of the year to celebrate even more students!
Mr. Ciliberti spent the last two weeks of school, during all lunch periods, pulling 2nd chance names and giving out lots of incentives. Here are a few of our winners!
We love celebrating being responsible and caring!

Our band/strings students led by Mr. Coleman, and choir led by Ms. W**d, finished off our school year with their beautiful songs and music.
Such a great night celebrating all of their talent!

We wanted to share with our Acacia community the beautiful plaque that arrived this week from the Arizona Department of Education.
Earlier this year, Acacia was honored as a finalist for the National Title I Distinguished School Award. This is the 2nd time Acacia has been a finalist. In 2012, we won the title for Arizona.
We are thrilled that our achievement over all the years still qualifies us for this honor. We are so proud of our staff, students and parents!
⭐We ARE ACACIA, and TOGETHER, we can do ANYTHING!⭐

Our STEAM initiative is school-wide, which means our special area classes are also a part of bringing the Engineering Design Process into their classrooms to enhance their standards with problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork.

Recently, Coach Marin had his PE classes participating in their STEAM project. His story was:

Mr. Ciliberti and Coach Marin want to practice their golf game, specifically putting, but have no golf hole or green surface to do so. It’s up to Acacia’s student to use their knowledge and skills to build a small putting green with a golf hole so that they can improve their skills!
Constraints:
Must be able to putt the ball from at least 5 feet
A barrier must be created to keep the ball from rolling away
The golf ball needs to be able to roll smoothly into, and stay in the hole
Given materials will include cardboard, two cups (one plastic, one Styrofoam), scissors, glue, tape, and 4 pool noodle cutouts

The results were fantastic! Way to STEAM on, OWLS!

Our school-wide STEAM program gives all students a chance to experience the Engineering and Design Process. With technology, art, engineering and math incorporated into every project, each student can excel at their favorite area. Students also learn how to collaborate as they share ideas and discuss designs.

Ms. Yousif's 4th graders worked diligently with set parameters and materials, to design, build, evaluate and test a raft to carry Olaf over to Anna's island. Looking at the designs and finished products, we know there were successes!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

STEAM on Owls!

Last week, we held our 6th grade promotion ceremony. Several students were awarded Gold and Silver Presidential Awards as well as Special Area Awards from those teachers.
We are so proud of them all, and wish them the best for their future endeavors. They will be missed. ❤️To the parents leaving us this year, thank you for being an active part of your child's education. We will miss you, too!❤️

Acacia's Accelerated Reader program has been going strong for 19 years! We love this program because it is research-based and has proven, time after time, to increase our students comprehension skills! It is also based on a student's personal independent reading level so all students, regardless of their reading strength, can make gains in the same ways.
Last week we had our annual end of the year celebration and were able to celebrate many students for their overall success! SO much achievement!🎉🎉🎉
Our longest standing business partners, the Thunderbird Pioneer Club (Laura Warren and Harvey Lehrfeld), were here once again to watch us award the 7 bikes they donated this year! (They do this every year). THANK YOU❤️ A big thank you to Wal-Mart as they are the ones that help us purchase all of the incentives for the students throughout the year.❤️
This is a great example of how the community is supporting our schools directly. Just so wonderful! We could not do it without them.

Our annual 6th grade musical/play, "Hercules", was nothing short of wonderful! The costumes, speaking parts, and all around characters and dancing were just so great! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Thank you, Ms. W**d for yet, another unforgettable show. Thank you, also, to Ms. Scott for the background artwork, and our facility manager, Ben, for making the incredible monster, Hydro.

We hope this performance gave our students a class memory they will remember forever.🥰
