Today is International Day of Education! Education is the backbone of society, with lasting effects throughout life, and nonprofits are there in their communities to bring more education to those who need it. This can be in after-school programs and tutoring for kids, athletics and arts programs, scholarships for schooling, and additional job training. We asked our Lodestar staff about memorable educational memories from their lives, and how it impacted them. Take a look at what they said!

Don't forget to register and submit your proposals for the West Coast Nonprofit Data Conference by February 2! We want to see all the data-lovers, researchers, graduate students, and academics on the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus on April 19 and 20, 2024.

We want to hear from you! Your feedback is vital to the ASU Lodestar Center's continuing to help build the capacity of the social sector, so tell us how we are doing!

Congrats to all of those who have been recognized for their service in the nonprofit world with this year's Awards, including the ASU Lodestar Center's own Leadership Council Chair Eric Majchrzak!

Part of Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy is that of service to the community, something that the nonprofit sector actively works towards every day.
In honor of MLK Day, Arizona State University and the Lodestar Center are closed for the day, while many of our staff, along with members, volunteer in our communities and recommit to Dr. King's vision.

Calling all the nonprofit scholars, students, and overall data wonks! Join us for the 2024 West Coast Nonprofit Data Conference, hosted on our own Downtown Phoenix campus from April 19-20! This is the place for faculty, grad students, and researchers in the nonprofit sector can come together and talk data and methods. Registrations are now open!

The Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation at Arizona State University was named one of 10 winners of the CoGen Challenge to Advance Economic Opportunity today for its work bringing generations together to create a more inclusive, prosperous future.

The $20,000 award comes from CoGenerate, a national nonprofit bringing older and younger people together to solve problems, bridge divides and co-create the future.

This new funding will support the ASU Lodestar Center’s Cogenerational Service Academy, which launched its inaugural cohort in early 2023 and will begin a second program year this month. Participants in the academy represent as many as five generations of community-minded individuals, including AmeriCorps members from the Center’s Public Allies Arizona program for emerging nonprofit and civic leaders.
