Our Scholastic Book Fair is open! Students can shop during the school day, and parents can shop during our Storybook Live event on Thursday, 3/2 from 5-7!

Our final January 2023 Employee of the Month spotlight goes to Kim Williams, CCB program coach at Manzanita Elementary School.

On campus, Kim is known to be a team player through and through. She is committed to the success of the CCB program and will do anything she can to improve its services. She works hard to help the students in the CCB program, even when the job may be difficult. Her dedicated efforts lead to student achievement as she works on the whole child. She believes in her students’ success and supports them every step of the way. It is clear Kim genuinely loves her students and wants them to achieve. As many of the CCB program teachers are part of the BRIGE program, she also works tirelessly with them and models what is necessary for them to be successful. Additionally, Kim provides professional development to the paraprofessionals and teachers in the program. With her calm and encouraging demeanor, she is a great resource to the CCB teachers. She is appreciated for not only being dedicated to the success of the CCB program, but to Manzanita as a whole. Her colleagues describe her as dedicated, hardworking and supportive.

It's almost time to meet our newest kindergartners! Don't forget to join us Tuesday, January 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to see how bright the future is in kindergarten at Manzanita Elementary School! During our event, you and your future kindergartner will be able to meet teachers, explore classrooms, receive information about District services and programs, and so much more!

Our students earn Mustang Tokens for being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. They get to put their tokens into a school-wide drawing for a chance to win a prize. Check out these token drawing winners and their cool prizes!! We even had a special Mustang Token drawing for a donut prize! 🍩💛🖤

Another huge shout out to our cafeteria staff!!! A+ score from the Maricopa County Health Department! They do such a great job at making sure your students have a healthy lunch to help them grow and learn!! 💛🖤

Yesterday at our weekly PLC our teachers continued their learning from their Top 20 Training in August. They learned how to see things positively to make the best outcome for your students! We also celebrated three awesome teachers for receiving Apple Awards! Your mindset is one of your most powerful tools!! 💛🖤

Today at our weekly PLC we celebrated teachers who earned Apple Awards!! Teachers can write an Apple Award to their colleagues as a special way to say "Thank you" for going above and beyond! Way to go MZ!! 🍎💛🖤

We are so proud of our very own Ms. Ellis!! 💛🖤

Please help us congratulate Manzanita Elementary School sixth-grade teacher Shannon Ellis! Over the summer, the Arizona Diamondbacks awarded Ms. Ellis with the Most Valuable Teachers (MVT) in STEM award. She also participated in an on-field recognition and received a $1,000 grant!

We are so excited to welcome our students back tomorrow!! Gates open at 7:55 for breakfast in the classroom and at 8:15 for our Leadership Academy/CCB students.

K-3 grade students and their older siblings will be dropped off in the cafeteria. 4-6 grade students will be dropped off by the pre-school courtyard. This is different from last year, but we will have signs and staff outside to help direct you! Leadership Academy students will enter by the 400 building gate as they have previously.

We can't wait to see you!!

The first day of school is tomorrow, August 8! Be sure your child gets plenty of sleep tonight so they can be on time and ready to start learning! We can’t wait to see our students for all the fun tomorrow as we kick off another great school year!

Yesterday our teachers engaged in a hilarious and thought provoking training with "Top 20 Teachers" author Tom Cody. We focused on creating a positive mindset and collaborative culture to bring the best version of ourselves to school every day for YOUR student. We are so excited for the great things to come!!
