Congratulations to Karsen Moore Countryman ‘27 and Sophie LaMagna ‘27!

Karsen and Sophie recently directed, filmed, and edited their award nominated documentary, Counterpart, which explores the experiences of Black students in high school.

Karsen served as the Director and Voiceover, while Sophie served as the Editor. Their incredible work earned Counterpart a nomination for a Rocky Mountain Emmy in the category of “High School Non Fiction- Short Form,” making it one of just four nominated short films in the category!

We are so proud of Karsen and Sophie for using their creativity, storytelling, and filmmaking talents to give a voice to important experiences and perspectives. Congratulations on this incredible achievement!

🎂Let The Great Xavier Bake Off Begin! 🎂

Our students put their creativity, and their baking skills, to the test with a delicious cake showcase in Mrs.Rinaldi’s new culinary course.

The assignment was to create a cake with a filling and decorative frosting, with students having full creative freedom over their designs and flavors. During the first week, students experimented with different cake recipes, fillings, and frostings before putting everything together this week for their final showcase cakes!

We were also thrilled to welcome three guest judges who tasted their way through the delicious creations and selected a Best in Show!

Best in Show was awarded to Junior Quetzalli Ramirez Trujilo’s Chocolate Raspberry Cake with Chocolate Cream Cheese Froasting!

We are so proud of all of our students for their creativity and hard work! Stay tuned for next week’s exciting baking challenge!

Coming Soon to the Stark Gallery at Xavier College Preparatory!

Experience the bold colors, powerful storytelling, and uplifting spirit of Arizona artist Joe Ray as his exhibition, Finding Peace in the Chaos, comes to the Stark Gallery from August 12-October 13.

Born in Sonora, Mexico, and raised on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation, Joe Ray’s vibrant paintings celebrate culture, identity, hope, and the power of human connection. He is a longtime artist member of Xico, a Chicano/Native American arts organization in Phoenix.

Join us for the Artist Reception on Wednesday, September 9, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and meet the artist behind this inspiring collection.

The Stark Gallery is proud to continue its mission of bringing exceptional Arizona artists to our campus, providing students and the community with meaningful opportunities to engage with contemporary art.
