From LTC Nguyen: Honored to attend Shelsy Castaneda’s Marine Corps induction ceremony, hosted by the Mayor of Glendale. Grateful to see the Luke AFB Commander and so many civic and military members in attendance. About 500 cadets—many high school students—took the oath and received their service graduation stole. Proud to have Maryvale students among them.

This past weekend, the Maryvale JROTC Drill Team closed out the season with an incredible performance at the Desert Classic Drill Meet, the official State Championship hosted by Alhambra High School.
Competing against 21 teams from across all military branches, Maryvale’s Unarmed, Armed, and Color Guard teams performed superbly, bringing home trophies in every single category. When the results were tallied, Maryvale won 3rd Place Overall for the sweepstakes trophy—finishing as the top-ranked Army program in the entire State.
Individual and small-team highlights included our Duo and 4-person Unarmed Teams, who both officially claimed the title of State Champions in their respective categories.
We are extremely proud of our Cadets, not just for winning, but for the relentless work ethic and sportsmanship they displayed. They truly are the Pride of the Westside. Black & Gold, Strong & Bold!
