Near the end of life, many people wrestle with questions like these.

But what if we didn’t wait until the end of our lives to ask them?

What if, from an early age, we intentionally wrestled with questions like: Who am I becoming? How do I love others well? What does it mean to be a great friend? And how can I use my unique gifts to contribute something meaningful to the world?

Welcome to the Acton Adventure and Launchpad Studios.

Our middle and high school school learners have spent their first few days of the school year exploring these very questions. They’ve shared stories of friendships that have left a lasting impact. They’ve named people they admire and examined the qualities that make them worth following.

And, of course, they’ve played games, laughed a lot, argued a little, solved problems, and faced team challenges together.

Because becoming the person you want to be doesn’t happen by simply talking about character. It happens in community—in the moments when you have to listen, lead, forgive, persevere, disagree, encourage, and try again.

These first days are about much more than starting another school year. They’re about beginning the work of deciding who we want to become, individually and as a tribe.

Acton isn’t just school.

It’s a journey of transformation—and a place to discover the unique gifts you can use to find a calling and change the world.

When young people have meaningful work to do, personal goals, and a community built on high expectations and shared promises, they are motivated and hard-working. Only the second week of school and our adventure learners are deep in focus.

The first few days of any school year are important. At Acton, it’s also a ton of fun! One week in and learners have laughed and connected, welcomed new heroes, deepened friendships, played tons of games, and began the work that will shape their journey.

Acton is not just a school. It’s a community and a place to belong.

Acton Academy Phoenix was created from a belief that education should be about more than test scores, long hours, and simply following directions.

Strong literacy and math skills matter, but they are only the foundation. Children also need opportunities to discover their purpose, think creatively, solve meaningful problems, build character, and become their best selves.

Our learner-driven model gives students freedom with responsibility inside a close-knit community where they are known, challenged, and trusted.

The goal is not only to prepare learners for the next test or the next grade. It is to help them become capable, courageous young people who love learning and are ready to make a difference in the world.

Real leadership isn’t about being in charge. It’s about helping others grow.

At Acton Academy Phoenix, learners are not simply preparing to follow directions. They are practicing how to think independently, communicate clearly, take responsibility, serve their community, and use their influence to build others up.

Through Socratic discussions, hands-on Quests, mixed-age studios, and meaningful responsibilities, learners discover that leadership is not measured by popularity or control—it is measured by the positive impact they have on others.

Because every child has the potential to lead. They just need a place that believes they are capable.

One thing you’ll never see at Acton are learners bored listening to a lecture. The 2025-2026 school year was full of adventure, challenges, teamwork, joy, and so much growth! This is what school should be.

Had a blast at the end of this year with our annual last day celebration. These young heroes worked hard all year and then let loose as they jumped, flipped, and connected before heading off to summer!

Acton Discovery learners, age 7-11, took to the woods to show their survival skills at the end of their Survival Skills training quest a few weeks ago. Learners built shelters, cooked all the meals, and made fire with adventure and celebration in between. We were so proud of them! They really crushed this quest and it was so much fun.
