🐾 It's the 14th! 🐾 Time to CHECK YOUR DOG for anything out of the norm. NOSE to TAIL and everything in between. Pick a quiet time of the day for this at home exam. Make sure to have a notebook handy to take notes.

Our October CHECK YOUR DOG Dog of the Month, Sterling, is here to help!

His Story:
Sterling was 12 when he was diagnosed with lymphoma, already navigating blindness from glaucoma and fighting IVDD. Yet nothing broke his spirit. He still insisted on daily walks and proudly served as a Malamute Rescue Ambassador—even as a Siberian Husky. He was the definition of resilience.
His lymphoma was found by chance during an ultrasound. His lymph nodes weren't swollen, and his bloodwork was remarkably normal. When faced with 3 to 6-month oncology waitlists, we pushed to get on every cancellation list and landed an appointment the very next day. That persistence bought us precious, irreplaceable time.
Though wildfire smoke tragically compromised his immune system near the end of chemo, Sterling fought courageously until the very end.
His story is a reminder to trust your gut, push past long waitlists, and be your dog's biggest advocate. Lymphoma doesn't always show up in obvious ways, and early detection gives our dogs the best chance at more quality time.
Check your dog. Sterling showed us what true resilience looks like—sharing his story helps protect the dogs we love so deeply. 💙

It's Breast Cancer awareness month. Did you know that dogs can get Breast (Mammary) Cancer, too? They can. This is why we recommend regular full body checks on CHECK YOUR DOG Day each month. Early detection is not only a key component in fighting cancer in humans, it's also extremely important in dogs.

Underbelly:
Gently palpate the belly to look for lumps and notice if your pet seems to experience discomfort or pain. Note any bumps, lumps and sensitive areas over the skin. Examine your pet regularly to determine what is normal so you can determine when there are changes. https://wearethecure.org/dog-cancer-prevention/
