This week’s post is a shout-out to our fantastic Mr. Stevens who has been teaching in WESD for two years, but this is his first year in 6th grade at Chaparral. Fun fact, Mr. Stevens student taught in 4th grade here with Ms. Nelson!
Mr. Stevens says, “My “why” for teaching is to help grow young minds into scholar like minds! I love having the ability to help grow, form and shape students into scholar like kids. Students who are trying their hardest, participating in classroom discussion, and being responsible young kids is my reason why. I love being there to help them with homework questions, classroom discussions about topics they have never heard of or really love to talk about, seeing the growth of a student from beginning to end, it is all so fascinating and motivating to witness. These kids are the future, so it is crucial that we prepare them the best possible way we can! What better way to help grow young minds, than to be rooting for them since
When he is not teaching he likes playing board/card games with family and friends, watching movies/tv shows, playing basketball, and traveling! He loves going to new places and exploring what is around 😊!
Thank you Mr. Stevens for all you do to support our students and community! ❤️
Mark you calendars! Our next Kona Ice Day will be this Wednesday, March 8th after student lunches! If your student purchased a reusable cup during our last Kona Ice day they can get a refill for $3 if they remember to bring it. Parents if you are willing to volunteer to help please email Mrs. McDivitt at
[email protected] (we are looking for 5 volunteers from 11:00-1:00pm)
Today Let's Build ASA class used their Legos to build things that can fly. Some used imagination like the infamous Elsa's lady lama bug. Others built real things like Brenden's hot air balloon. We were blown away by their creativity.

This week’s post is for our energetic Mr. Mezger! Mr. Mezger teaches 4th grade!
He has been teaching for 12, years. Mr. Mezger says, “A Blip really! Time flies while we are having fun.”
His “why” for teaching comes down to motivating students. “I love to encourage my classes to work hard, and then celebrate with them on their learning and achievements. It's awesome to challenge kids, and see them crush it!”
When Mr. Mezger is not teaching, you'll find him on a bicycle somewhere with his sons. His pick would be a mountain biking trail, but his boys would choose a skatepark.
