Thanks to Mrs. Hannum and our Franklin students for this event.

On Thursday, March 28th, Franklinโ€™s National Honor Society hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive as their group community service project. All NHS members recruited students to donate blood and juniors Nate Garcia, Mathew Bugarin, Angela Cota and Beyonce Palma organized the 200 open area, helped the nurses with registration of donors and monitored patients and snacks. Blood donation is a crucial aspect of healthcare that directly touches the lives of countless individuals. More than 40 signed up to donate; donors are at least 16 and we had parents permission and meet certain health requirements.

We are happy to report Franklin students and staff successfully donated 35 pints of blood, surpassing their goal of 25. This is awesome! Thank you everybody, you all saved many lives! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ

Thanks Mrs. Andren for sharing this big project with your students. This was awesome! ๐Ÿ‘€

These are Mrs. Andren's words!!

Observations and Higher-Level Inquiry Based Questions Focus of this project: The students documented serial observations over 4 days. The subject was a puddle produced by rain. The puddle was located in Laveen, Arizona. Several samples were observed macro and microscopically to include dirt from the surrounding area and rainwater collected on the original date retrieved from a rain gauge. The students worked in groups and designed this project collaboratively. Using APA7 formatting, the students created a document describing their observations. The groups then created inquiry questions based on their observations. The requirement for the inquiry-based level Depth of Knowledge (DOK) was Level 3 and Level 4. Ultimately, the team used one of the DOK questions to formulate a research question. Lastly, the groups created a reference page with a minimum of four (4) citations related to their research question. The citations could be used as an extension to the project by creating an annotated bibliography or literature review.
