Annalise Townsley will present her Capstone Project, “The Transition,” as part of the Shea Middle School Dance Concert, Echoes of Joy on February 20th. Annalise worked with the NVAA Dance students at Shea Middle School, creating a dance piece designed to help them shake off the nerves and step confidently into their next chapter as high school students. Moving from middle to high school is a huge leap, but movement makes everything a little easier. Good luck to these future high schoolers!

“Yes, and” is an NVAA Dance Capstone by Brianna Prevoe that will explore how the “Yes, and” philosophy enhances contemporary dance by fostering collaboration and reducing stress.

Through a documentary featuring video interviews, the research tracks how dancers contribute their own ideas to elevate movement and body energy. By embracing this flexible approach, the project aims to prove that collaborative synergy is vital for creation while helping the choreographer build confidence and communication skills. Don’t miss it on February 18!

Nurturing The Next Generation of Dancers is a senior capstone made by Jessie Vasquez-Reyes. This capstone will demonstrate through a solo performance, how important it is to have nurturing dance teachers in dance learning environments. This project’s main objective is to advocate for students who have encountered negative experiences in dance environments and to transform vulnerability into resilience.
