Our Center for Law, Science & Innovation at ASU Law is playing a leading role in greater Phoenix’s push to become a top tech-driven “smart region.” Co-founded by ASU, a recently launched smart-region initiative called The Connective is bringing onboard Mastercard to provide timely economic data that helps inform budget decisions and policymaking.

“We have rolled out a substantive program of work around smart cities that includes, for example, thinking about everything from data governance, procurement and certification. And students are at the very center,” said Associate Dean Diana Bowman.

For the fifth year in a row, Arizona State University has been named the most innovative school in America. ASU Law is proud of our role in helping to advance this institution and the lives of our students and alumni. We believe that innovation and an elite law school education can go hand-in-hand. Here at ASU Law, we have grown our student body while increasing student quality to historic highs. Much of this is due in large part to our many unique and innovative programs, such as the Lodestar Dispute Resolution Center (ranked No. 10 in the nation), the Arizona Legal Center, and our Center for Law, Science & Innovation at ASU Law, where we have been advancing science and technology law and policy for over 30 years.

Congratulations to the ABA Mediation Competition 2nd place winners, Monica Moazez and Ashley Hutton!

Monica and Ashley are 2Ls here at ASU Law. They placed 2nd in the country, with a split ballot (2-1) from the judges. After the round the judge remarked that this was a coin-toss as to who would win.

Ashley stepped in last minute after a classmate fell ill, making this an amazing feat to do so well under challenging circumstances. ASU Law alum Erika Mansur (‘09) coached them during the competition in San Antonio.

Congrats, Monica and Ashley!
