Jason Mohlenbrock's passion was music, and PC helped make it his profession!

Jason earned his associate's degree in education and transferred to ASU, where he received a bachelor's degree in art, but continued to study with Dr. Schindler at PC. "The Phoenix College music program emulates university programs.

Now co-owner of Blue in Green Youth Piano Academy with his wife Shawna Craig, Jason said, "Our piano academy wouldn't exist if I hadn't gone to Phoenix College. I thought I had missed the boat on a music career."

Today, Phoenix College is proud to join the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation and Maricopa Community Colleges in launching EmpowerED for Student Success Campaign!

Today, the Maricopa Community College District and the Maricopa Community College Foundation launched the EmpowerED for Student Success (EFSS) fundraising campaign - to raise $20 million supporting student scholarships and programs.

PC’s campaign priorities include scholarship and program support - to help students succeed and be empowered to join clubs, participate in work-based experiences, and get involved on campus!

Phoenix College faculty members Gail Jamieson and her husband Bill left a $200,000 legacy in their will, establishing a new endowment, which is PC’s inaugural gift to the EmpowerED Campaign.

Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Sally Alsigab and her family moved to Amman, Jordan when Sally was six years old. There, during the Iraq War, her father applied for asylum through the International Organization for Migration. After two years in Amman, the family was granted asylum and moved to Phoenix in 2008 when Sally was eight. "I went to public school with my brother, but there was no communication at all," Sally said. Sally and her father are Deaf. In Iraq, they learned Arabic Sign Language, which they still use at home. However, the move to America and attendance at American schools required them to learn not one, but two new languages–American Sign Language and English–simultaneously.

December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). Phoenix College recognizes Sally Alsigab and other persons with disabilities in the US and globally. We also acknowledge the disability advocates who make accessibility and inclusion in education possible.
