Today, 55 Arizona educators are finishing up Cognitive Coaching Foundations to be able to better support teachers in their ability to self-monitor, self-analyze, and self-evaluate. Another 60 educators will complete this eight-day course next week, and a cohort meeting in Flagstaff is mid-way through!

Saturday was our final National Board Coaching Saturday of the school year! This was a focused day of National Board Certification candidates working on their components before the submission deadline of May 17.

Candidates have been working all year to demonstrate how their teaching practice reflects the National Board Five Core Propositions and Standards of what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do to have a positive impact on student learning. Around 250 Arizona University pre-service teachers spent Friday exploring inquiry alongside several tremendous teacher leaders at the annual There's A Reason I'm A Teacher Conference! This year also featured a bonus Thursday evening event with MacKenzie: Inquiry Mindset, National Teacher of the Year Rebecka Peterson, Arizona Rural Teacher of the Year Allison Mitkowski, and 2023 Coconino Teacher of the Year Emily Fisher.

Thank you to all the Educational Foundation Ambassadors of Excellence, Teacher of the Year Efrain Casillas, and other Arizona teacher leaders who led breakout sessions and to everyone who helped make this another successful event inspiring our future teachers!

Cognitive Coaching Foundations - Summer 04/11/2024

Cognitive Coaching is hitting the road!

This highly sought-after training is heading to Northern Arizona this spring/summer. During the eight-day workshop from April through August, participants will learn to establish rapport, create trust, and conduct planning, reflecting, and problem-resolving conversations with their colleagues. These tools develop teacher self-efficacy and cognitive autonomy, while also developing a sense of community within a school.

Program to mentor early career teachers in first year at FUSD schools 02/20/2024

Thanks to the Arizona Daily Sun for highlighting our Arizona New Teacher Support Program work in Flagstaff Unified School District.

“This was the first year that it was not a more buddy system,” FUSD human resources director Dawn Anderson said during the meeting. “We changed our programming to address some of the retention issues that we were seeing in education with putting together a strong mentor program.”
