AND PCM's Chris Hudson will receive his full tuition college scholarship during the show!
Last Friday, a full house at PCM to watch the end of week six summer camps showed what they've learned 🧡 (short clip from Video Game Music Camp). These students spent a week learning some basics of audio production with Teaching Artist Kyle Perez & worked to create this game track! 🙌

PCM's College Prep Program Auditions are now open for 2023-2024! The award-winning CPP program provides weekly ensembles, music theory courses for their knowledge level, enrichment classes and many musical opportunities. PCM provides a safe and structured environment for students in grades 4-12 to learn music, hone their musical chops, play and jam with other musicians and learn skills necessary to succeed in music and in everything they do.

Last week, PCM trained some of our Teaching Artists in the Jazz at Lincoln Center WeBop programming. This partnership allows us to add a fun, play-based curriculum for music learning through jazz for students ages 8 months to 7 years, providing another foundational building block for young musicians and young learners 🧡

Phoenix Conservatory of Music's College Prep Program students Avi Calloway (violin) and Madison Brand (violin) participated in the 2023 Northern Arizona University Camp Curry at the Kitt School of Music. They participated in intensive orchestra programs for a week, and both performed in a cumulative concert.
Avi Calloway was invited to perform in the honors recital after passing an additional audition and performed the Lalo Symphonie Espagnole in Kitt Recital Hall, accompanied by Mary Anne Bruner.
Congratulations, Avi and Madi! Avi Calloway and Madison Brand are students of Meghan Ruel, Teaching Artist and Program Manager at PCM.

Week 4 of summer camps at PCM is done! As of last week, we have 317 individual students enrolled in summer camps this year, ages 3 through 18.
Students have been participating in exciting group classes, like learning to make electronic music, playing guitar or piano for the first time, and even participating in mini Broadway productions! Our teachers have designed lesson plans that are engaging and blend other life skills such as deep listening, problem-solving, reading, and even math!
Lastly, students have gained real-life performance experience by showcasing their new skills every Friday at 3 pm for a packed audience!

Today is 🎶A day when people are urged to participate in music, especially live music. From an all-day music celebration in France on the summer solstice in 1982 to a day recognized in over 120 countries, PCM hopes everyone will enjoy the music of their choice today and every day!

All the musicians did a fantastic job, and PCM celebrated our graduating seniors and noted scholarship recipients for various summer programs! It was an epically amazing day, and we're so grateful for the many families who supported these talented and hard-working students throughout the 2022-23 year!
We're also thankful to the PCM Teaching Artists, staff, partners and volunteers who helped make this year's College Prep Program successful.

PCM's 2023 Scholarship Celebration Concert is at Paradise Valley Community College Performing Arts Center tomorrow; the cookie reception begins at 4 pm, and the show runs from 4:30-6:30 pm. Next week is PCM's Annual Jam & Jazz Fundraiser. As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, this year's event focuses on heroes of the past and keys to the future.
The fundraising breakfast will feature a Teaching Artist jazz band, student jazz ensembles and student speakers. We're also excited to have some fantastic Berklee City Music Network staff in town for breakfast!

We're excited to announce that on March 28-29, local legend Ralna English will offer a Vocal Masterclass to five of our College Prep students at PCM Main!
Ralna English, one of the most dynamic performers to hit the stage, performs throughout the US and Canada. Ralna has been a favorite on "The Lawrence Welk Show" since 1969 and performs jazz, blues, gospel, patriotic, country, and pop music.
What is a Masterclass? In music master classes, a highly proficient artist/teacher works with one student or a small ensemble in front of an audience. The intention is to provide a learning opportunity for performers and observers.
Both masterclass sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the final performance at 7 PM on Wednesday, are FREE to attend, and observers and students of all ages are welcome to attend.
