Alta Vista Elementary Alta Vista Elementary School - Home of the Aviators! 🛩 We offer a strong academic program where individual needs and learning styles of children are addressed.

Alta Vista Elementary provides a well-rounded, student-centered education in preparation for continuing education and life skills. Every student at Alta Vista receives daily interventions. We do Tier II interventions at the grade level, responding to recently taught materials and Tier III interventions in our Literacy Lab. In addition, after-school interventions are provided through a 21st Century

Grant. All interventions are planned using data and implemented utilizing research-based materials and first, best instruction.

It’s time to celebrate another group of our Aviator Slip winners! 🌟

These students know what it means to be Safe, Responsible, and Respectful each and every day. They are making positive choices, setting a great example, and showing what it means to have Aviator Pride!

We are SO proud of each of you! 👏

Our Lit Lab team is hard at work helping our Aviators strengthen their reading and writing skills! 📖✏️

Led by Mrs. Maloney, our Lit Lab team also includes Mrs. Carlson and Mrs. K. These amazing ladies work with students in small groups each day, providing targeted instruction based on the specific skills students need to strengthen.

Today, we’re highlighting some of our 3rd grade Aviators! They are working hard, learning together, and—most importantly—having fun while they learn! 🎉

Small-group instruction allows our teachers to provide focused support, meet students where they are, and help them build the skills they need to become stronger readers and writers. We love seeing our Aviators so engaged in their learning!

During the 2025–2026 school year, Ariel earned a PERFECT SCORE on the state math assessment! ➗📚

And this makes the accomplishment even more amazing… this is the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW that Ariel has earned a perfect score! 🤯👏🏽

Ariel’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to learning are truly something to celebrate. We are incredibly proud of you, Ariel, and all that you have accomplished!

🎃 The Alta Vista Candy Drive Is ON! 🍬

We’re collecting bags of pre-wrapped Halloween candy to help make our Halloween Hallways event extra sweet! 🍭👻

📅 Candy Drive: September 1st – October 22nd
🏆 THE CHALLENGE: Which grade level can collect the most candy by weight?

The grade level that brings in the most pounds of candy will win a PRIZE! 🎉

📍 Where to donate: Bring candy to the Front Office

✏️ IMPORTANT: Please make sure each donation has the student’s first and last name AND homeroom teacher so your Aviator gets credit for their donation!

We are excited to invite our Alta Vista families to our Title I Literacy Night on Thursday, September 24th from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria! 📖

Our Lit Lab team — Mrs. Maloney, Mrs. Carlson, and Mrs. Cathy — has an evening full of fun and learning planned for our Aviators! 🎉

Families will:
🎲 Play exciting literacy games
🏠 Take home FREE games to continue the learning at home
📚 Visit our Alta Vista Library
🍪 Enjoy cookies and milk

We have some GOOD NEWS to share! 🎉

We are so excited to welcome Imging Solutions as a new business partner of Alta Vista Elementary! They generously donated T-shirts for EVERY SINGLE Aviator! 👕

These shirts will be given to students on the day of their field trips so that we can match as a group, easily identify our students, and help keep everyone safe while we are out in the community. And the best part? Students get to keep their shirts and wear them proudly to show their Aviator Pride!

A HUGE thank you to Chelsea and Imging Solutions for this incredibly generous donation. Your support of our students and school community is so greatly appreciated! We are thankful to have community partners who believe in our Aviators. 🥰

Our Guiding Coalition met again today, and we continued the important work of looking closely at our student data and asking ourselves, “What can we do differently, better, or more efficiently to improve outcomes for our students?”

Today, our team focused on math data and worked together to identify possible root causes in four key areas:

⚙️ Systems
👩‍🎓 Student Factors

This is just the beginning of the work, but our goal is clear: we want instruction at Alta Vista to be the very best it can be!

Our Guiding Coalition represents staff from across our campus, and together we are committed to identifying what our students need, developing intentional plans, and bringing that work back to our teams.

We know that supporting students doesn't happen in isolation. That's why we are committed to ongoing Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) where our teachers can learn, collaborate, reflect, and grow together. When we grow as educators, our students benefit. 📚

At Alta Vista, our students come first, and we are committed to doing the work necessary to help every Aviator succeed. ❤️✈️
