💓Thank you!😎

The Healthy Start Block Party drew about 720 people to Phoenix High School on Saturday, and it was a great feeling to see so many local organizations step up to support our students and families as they prepare for the 2026-27 school year.

👏🏼We'd like to thank our incredible partner Jackson Care Connect for helping to make this year's event another huge success. Students were able to get haircuts, dental screenings, sports physicals, food, school supplies, and a whole lot more. Sara Cole with CareOregon, and our very own Katie McCormick (community care specialist extraordinaire) were instrumental in making sure everything ran smoothly.

🔗👉🏼The first day of school in PTS is Tuesday, September 8. Check out our back-to-school page to get the lowdown on what you need to know to start school on the right foot: https://www.phoenix.k12.or.us/students-and-families/back-to-school-2026-27

See you soon, PTS!

💓There were a few tears at our school board meeting last night as Superintendent Barry and several board members honored their colleague and friend Rick Nagel, our longtime board member, who passed away last week on his 90th birthday. You can see what they had to say in the first few minutes of the meeting video linked below👇🏼.

As board member Michael Campbell put it, "Someday we're going to have to fill his seat, but we'll never fill his shoes."

If you or somebody you know who is eligible to serve on the Phoenix-Talent School Board is interested in filling the now-vacant seat, please visit the school board page on our website to learn more about the process and to apply. Oregon School Boards Association
