Our Urban Farming Education team had a wonderful time at ASU Thunderbird Regional Night, celebrating diverse cultures, traditions, and perspectives from around the world! 🌱

Planting from seed gives students a chance to follow the whole process: preparing a space, planting carefully, watching for changes, and caring for something they helped begin.

🌿 Garden tip: Carrots and radishes can be sown directly into garden soil. Follow the packet’s planting depth and keep the seed area moist during germination.

🌱 Exploring the Science Behind Every Plant! 🌸🍃

Today at Mustang Villas, we got hands-on with plant anatomy! 🌿 Participants learned how to identify different plant structures and understand the important role each one plays—from the flowers and vines to the fruit and the seeds growing inside.

Through observation and exploration, we discovered how every part of a plant works together to support growth, reproduction, and the cycle of life. 🌻🍅

Have students read the recommended plant spacing, measure a garden bed, and sketch a planting plan.
How many plants will fit? What happens if we change the spacing? Can another group explain how they reached their answer?
