We will still have Chromebook Distribution happening today 8AM - 4:30PM through our Gym. We have enough devices to be 1-to-1, meaning every scholar should have their own device! Feel free to stop by to pick up enough Chromebooks for all the AMS South Mountain scholars in your household.
**K-2nd grade students: You will have learning packets to pick up. You can pick those up through our Gym along with Chromebook distribution.
**3rd - 8th grade students: All you work should be virtual through Zoom and Schoology. Reach out to your individual teacher for specific assignment related questions.
Today, we're focusing on troubleshooting and making sure all scholars have access to what they need. Please make sure you're responding to their communication.
Any questions, don't hesitate to reach out :)
AMS South Mountain is a free public charter school focusing on a well-rounded K-8 education.
Operating as usual
Fall break is right around the corner and with that being said, we will also begin Q2. Time flies when you're having fun!
We are accepting sign ups for extended care 10/2-10/13. If you would like your scholar to continue the extended care program, payments are due by Friday October 13th. Those who have not paid for EC by 10/13 will no longer be enrolled for EC after Fall break. Those not enrolled will need to follow normal bell schedule times for pick up and drop off. New sign ups are also welcome!
Due to a max of 20 participants in each club, we recommend signing up as soon as possible, starting Monday 10/2. Sign ups are first come first served based on payments. We have also finalized Q2 sports and will announce tryout information very soon!
Here's to an AMAZING Q2!

We can't believe that the first day of school is THIS Thursday! We have been working on restructuring and planning to ensure that we have a successful year.
As you may have noticed during Meet the Teacher Night we have assigned a color to you and that color matches the color lane you will use during dismissal.
If you have NOT picked up your driveline signs yet, please make sure to stop by the office before school begins!
Here is a video of how the driveline works starring our wonderful counselor Mrs. Curtis!
Don't worry, if you missed the driveline table at meet the teacher or are confused about anything we sent an email with details and will have lots of signage set up as well!

I joined the U.S. Army from 2012 to 2016, and after my military career, I returned to college and graduated from GCU with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I joined AMS South Mountain as a Middle School Social Studies teacher when the campus opened in 2020, where I found my passion in education and eventually became the Dean of Scholar. I returned to school, attending ASU to obtain my master’s degree in educational leadership. I am excited to continue growing in my career with AMS and look forward to another exciting year!"

Today is and we are so excited to introduce you to our new assistant principal, Ms. Campoa who will be working closely with our Kinder and 1st grade scholars. Welcome to the Mamba family 🐍❤️
Here is a message from Ms. Campoa:
"I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at your amazing campus, South Mountain. Born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico, I migrated to the United States at the age of 8, carrying a deep appreciation for education.
While obtaining my bachelor's degree at California State University, Fullerton, I coordinated a tutoring program, witnessing the transformative power of education firsthand. Inspired by this, I joined Teach for America and pursued my master's degree in education at Arizona State University.
My journey in education led me to the Academy of Math and Science Camelback, where I taught elementary students. Later, at AMS Flower, I specialized in math intervention for students from kindergarten to 8th grade. Additionally, I took on various leadership roles, including instructional coaching, team lead, and coordinating the mentorship and extended care program.
In my role as Assistant Principal, I am excited to work closely with the dedicated teachers of kindergarten and 1st grade, fostering a strong foundation for our youngest learners. Together, let's create an environment where every student can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. I am also eager to collaborate with all of you, leveraging our collective expertise to guide our students toward success.
I look forward to an incredible year ahead as part of the Mamba family."
Wrapping up the year with one more spirit day: anything but a backpack!🎒🚫
A bittersweet end of year post from our lovely 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Jordan:
“While tomorrow is our last day of school, I want to highlight Daniel, a 3rd grader in my class. While many students are exhausted, this scholar is still going strong. Please swipe through the photos and watch Daniel draw a map of Africa and the United States. He then labels each state without having anything to look at. Impressive!!!! Way to go Daniel! 🎉” ❤️
Our staff vs scholars basketball games were a huge success! Shout out to Mr. Craig and Mr. Kelby for organizing and hosting such a fun event and to all those who participated. Our mambas had a blast! 🏀 ❤️
Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow in observance of Memorial Day.
We hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend! Classes resume Tuesday, May 30th at 7:55am. See you all then!
In Ms. Simran’s words “because everyday should feel like a day at the beach” 🏖️ and we couldn’t agree more!
K-8 Move Up Day was a success! Scholars were so excited to have a sneak peek of their next grade level! 🤓
In the countdown to kinder graduation, our littles are ready for summer!
Today they dressed as if they were headed to Disneyland! ✨❤️
Oh, the places they’ll go! 💛
In a countdown to kinder graduation, our kinder scholars dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up! 🚀🎨
More fun from K-2 field day! The bubbles were a huge hit for our littles!
