We just closed out 2024 with our best event yet. Our final panel discussion in our U.S.-China series explored the complexities of foreign direct investment (FDI) and international trade relations, especially with China and Taiwan.

Our audience steered the discussion into new directions as well, with topics like the TSMC Arizona project and what it means for relations between the U.S., China, and Tawian, the rising “Tier 2” cities in China driving innovation, and what the potential upcoming tariffs could mean for trade between the U.S., China, and Mexico.

We’re immensely grateful to all our attendees, partners, and contributors for the support we’ve received in our first year, and look forward to bringing more opportunities to discuss topics like these in the next.

In September, we welcomed our new leaders into the Foreign Policy Initiative, and we're proud to announce Allison Hale as our Director of Finance.

She joined Thunderbird in Spring of 2024 on an accelerated path with an expected graduation in Spring of 2025. While she has always considered Arizona her permanent residence, she has a diverse travel history with experience living and working in Europe and Asia. She completed her business marketing degree at W.P. Carey with a certificate in cross-sector leadership with Next Generation Service Corps where she gained experience working in public, private, and nonprofit organizations. Combined with her experience working at her family's commercial construction business, and her efforts in her own small business she brings an exciting collaborative member to the team.

Allison Hale's appointment marks the start of an exciting period for the Foreign Policy Initiative. Her experience and expertise will enable us to provide more engaging events and operate more effectively.
