From Division to Dialogue: Four Citizen-Led Breakthroughs in Congress
April 1, 2026
Beus Center for Law and Society – Great Hall
7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Keith Allred leads the National Institute for Civil Discourse, helping build the nation’s capacity to engage differences constructively. His work has been highlighted in major outlets including The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, The Hill, and Congressional Quarterly.
At a time of intense political division, Allred will share insights from CommonSense American, NICD’s flagship program - a rapidly growing, 89,000‑member grassroots movement that has helped champion four major bipartisan bills into law by identifying citizen‑driven common ground.
A former professor of negotiation and conflict resolution at the Harvard Kennedy School, Allred will explore how polarization research, the Founders’ design principles, and citizen engagement can point us toward a more constructive national path.

Difficult Conversations: Getting to What Matters

There is a better way.
Join us for Difficult Conversations: Getting to What Matters and discover what’s really going on beneath the surface — interests, identity, and emotions — before and during tough conversations.
You’ll walk away with practical, proven skills to prepare for and confidently engage in these moments. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn strategies that make hard conversations easier, more productive, and more meaningful.
