The Van Buren in Downtown Phoenix is a 1,800 capacity concert venue that has been hosting a variety of musical acts and events since 2017. Last week they opened their doors to PRM 145, Introduction to Special Event Management for a Behind the Scenes Tour.

Last week students in PRM 145 Introduction to Special Event Management had the opportunity to learn what it takes to plan events in a museum. From where food can be served to what exhibits must be protected, there is a lot to consider, but when done correctly, museum venues have so much to offer guests! Thank you Phoenix Art Museum for hosting our class!

Innings Festival and Extra Innings Festival go so much further than back to back weekends of music right on ASU’s Tempe Campus. Yes, there is an incredible lineup of entertainment but as students learned today, the masterminds behind the festivals also have sustainability, food waste diversion, community, customer service, accessibility and baseball activation at the heart of the event. Thank you The Barnstorm for the educational tour and we hope to see a lot of Sun Devils at the festival this weekend!

Super Bowl recap - to say we are proud of these Sun Devils would be an understatement. Super Bowl Sunday was filled with wayfinding madness, celebrity sightings and an 18 hour day that we will never forget. Thank you Bay Area for the memories! See you in LA 🌴 🏈

Day 3 recap - our Sun Devils continue to power through the week with amazing customer service and a great work ethic. Yesterday was our shift at the NFL House, where students served various roles from ticket scanning to wayfinding. Students then enjoyed a free night to take in the Super Bowl excitement as fans (and the Puppy Bowl puppies) have arrived and the vibe is strong!!

Day 2 recap: the day started with a visit to Alcatraz. Then, it was off to our first official shift. Half of the group worked inside the Super Bowl Experience, the NFL’s interactive theme park and the other half supported the Bay Area Host Committee’s Live event. Both were full of excited fans and hard working students! It was a late night but we are really starting to feel the build up to Super Bowl Sunday.

Day 1 recap: training day - Students hopped on the BART and headed into Downtown San Francisco where we were interviewed by a local NBC news crew (we will post the coverage when we can), and check out the views. Next it was all business as we trained for our shift at the NFL House, which is a VIP lounge. After lunch at the Ferry Building we took the train to Levi Stadium for our first glimpse at the site of Super Bowl LX. It sure is big, and we are so excited to support fans at the game. No pictures were permitted at the stadium but enjoy the ones we captured on our first day!
