Day 7 was dedicated to tennis! Our class really enjoyed our private tour of Wimbledon, a 42-acre park that hosts the oldest tennis tournament in the world. With its iconic grass courts, history dating back to 1877 and symbolic traditions such as frequent British Royal family sightings, all-white attire requirement and strawberries and cream culinary delight, we were able to take in all aspects of the experience. Next, we headed into the village for lunch at the iconic Dog & Fox where we were treated to wonderful cuisine and hospitality. Our lunch conversation was led by Mr. Chris Marshall, Founder of Young Champs who gave us a great perspective on youth tennis initiatives in London and how his nonprofit G Tennis aims to keep tennis affordable and accessible. Finally, a few of our students took on a volunteer role at an Open House Reception hosted by the ASU Foundation. Thank you for giving back Sun Devils!

We are just wrapping up our day in London, and what a day it was. We were honored to be invited to the ASU London grand opening celebration where we heard from several distinguished speakers about the exciting vision for the school and toured the facilities which were equally impressive. Next, we made our way to Queen Elizabeth Park, which was the location for many venues during the 2012 Olympic Games. Our brave students suited up and conquered the track at the Lee Valley VeloPark which was the site for all cycling events at the Olympics. We concluded the night by touring the grounds, checking out the Olympic Pool and of course, the rings.

Day 4 started with a tour of Westminster Abbey, a living church with a history dating back over one thousand years. The site of 16 royal weddings and the burial place for kings, queens and other influential figures was very impressive. After a narrated river cruise down the Thames, students then spent the afternoon at the Tower of London. During a brief photo shoot in front of the Tower Bridge we were surprised with a visit from the Union Jack Classic Trophy and met some new friends from the organizing committee. Tomorrow is a well deserved free day so we will be back in touch on Wednesday- Go Devils!

Day 3 in London brought us to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the Guard ceremony and then to the National Gallery to check out some pretty impressive artwork. We then discovered our culinary side by taking a scone and tea workshop. Not only did we learn how to make scones, but how to eat them as well. Did you know 100 million cups of tea are consumed daily in London? Our group had our fair share as we reminisced about the day and more adventure ahead tomorrow!

Day 2 started with a historical tour of the City of London where students gained an understanding of many significant sites. Next we traveled to Selhurst Park where we cheered on Crystal Palace as they lost in the last minute of regulation time to Premier League rival Ipswich Town in a back and forth battle with some of the most passionate fans we have even seen. The night was capped off with our Sun Devils cheering on our football team before they come across the pond for next weekends game.
