Stephanie Pham never doubted her decision to take six years off from school to be a full-time caregiver to her parents, both of whom had been diagnosed with cancer.

When she was ready to return, she found a second home at the ASU School of Community Resources and Development, part of the ASU Watts College of Public Service & Community Solutions.

Her scholarships allowed her to devote her time "to get involved and really develop and be part of the community here at ASU," she says.

ICYMI: Eric Legg of ASU School of Community Resources and Development researches youth sports and youth development. He traces the increase in youth club sport fees in the Phoenix area to the 2008 recession when Phoenix Parks and Recreation cut most of its youth sport programs. He said many government parks and recreation agencies used to fund a large percentage of recreational youth sports with tax dollars.
A decade later, a gift to create the Garden of Dreams in Phoenix's Encanto Park is still bearing fruit. http://ow.ly/sIpd50DJmgz
