As AI makes knowledge and analysis increasingly accessible, Professor Euvin Naidoo argues that the advantage leaders need is shifting.

In his latest Thunderbird Insights article, Can Global Management Education Keep Pace With Accelerating Change?, Professor Naidoo explores what leaders need in a business environment that is being reshaped by AI, geopolitics and changing workforce expectations and why capabilities like judgment, agility. He also emphasizes that the ability to create alignment are becoming increasingly important, which shapes Thunderbird Executive Education’s AI and Intelligent Transformation program. As Professor Naidoo shares in the article, the course has been substantially reconstructed each year since its 2024 launch to keep pace with the evolution of AI.

Thank you to everyone who joined us from around the world for the second session of our Digital Development Goals Webinar Series: Cities in Practice. This conversation was made especially meaningful by the work behind it.

Through Thunderbird's Global Challenge Lab (GCL), a team of students worked with the City of Rotterdam and U4SSC to explore how the emerging Digital Development Goals could translate from a global framework into the realities of individual cities. Their research resulted in a roughly 100-page case study informed by 27 interviews across nine countries and 12 themes for digital development.

During the webinar, the students took that work one step further by presenting their findings and moderating the conversation, to bring their research into dialogue with city leaders from Monrovia, Rotterdam, Phoenix, and Valencia.

A special thank you to Crystal Tan, Brianna Diaz, Isabella Constante, Lekha Amadure, and the entire GCL team for the research, preparation, and leadership that made this session possible, alongside Professor Bas Boorsma and the Thunderbird team.

And thank you to our city leaders, practitioners, and everyone who joined the conversation and shared perspectives from your own communities. The discussion reinforced something central to the work ahead: cities may share global challenges, but meaningful digital development has to account for the people, priorities, infrastructure, and realities of each community. The student research surfaced that local context, co-creation, inclusion, interoperability, governance, and trust all have important roles to play as the DDGs continue to take shape.
