Southwest Piano Festival, Day 1: A great lineup and program of Liszt, Ravel, Kapustin, and world premieres by Colin Martin! Special thanks to Jackie McGehee for her wonderful competition, giving young New Mexico artists a platform and voice. Come tomorrow, Saturday, for an incredible program by Jonathan Mamora, who has been taking the world by storm recently with five international competition wins including the Olga Kern International Piano Competition—7 PM at the New Mexico School of Music, Washington.

I'm honored to be a presenter at the Arizona Piano Institute this week. I will discuss the origins of the piano recital, artistic fusion in the piano concert, and my Picturing Rachmaninoff multimedia concert and book. I will also perform samples from Picturing Rachmaninoff.
