Southwest Piano Festival, Day 1: A great lineup and program of Liszt, Ravel, Kapustin, and world premieres by Colin Martin! Special thanks to Jackie McGehee for her wonderful competition, giving young New Mexico artists a platform and voice. Come tomorrow, Saturday, for an incredible program by Jonathan Mamora, who has been taking the world by storm recently with five international competition wins including the Olga Kern International Piano Competition—7 PM at the New Mexico School of Music, Washington.

This year’s prestigious faculty-artists include Douglas Humpherys (Eastman School of Music), Elisabeth Pridonoff (Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music), and Dian Baker and Eckart Sellheim (ASU). API will also host an important Teachers’ Forum by Eugene Pridonoff (CCM) for all teachers—registration opens soon!
