LIFE ON THE HIGH LINE
I’m incredibly grateful and honored to have been selected to create an art series for Central Park in downtown Cut Bank.
A special thank you to Lisa Cline for this wonderful opportunity, the MSU Community Vitality Reimagining Rural Program for funding this project and Rod Cline for his invaluable help with the installation and labor.
This series titled “Life on the High Line” was inspired by what I feel are some of the foundations of our community. Growing up here and returning after 30 years, I’m still amazed by the beauty of the wheat fields that surround Cut Bank in all directions., the herds of cattle scattered across the landscape and the endless opportunities for camping, exploring and day trips to Glacier National Park.
A barn-door painting class with artist Cheri Olson Peterson helped spark the inspiration for this series. I also incorporated elements influenced by this year’s Cut Bank First Friday Art Dumpster Project particularly its use of Geometric shapes and patterns.
It has been a meaningful experience to bring together my memories the character of our community and the landscape that makes this place special. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute something creative to the heart of downtown Cut Bank and hope this series brings a little more color and connection to Central Park.
Thank you to everyone who helped make
“ Life on the High Line “ possible!
