Arizona School for the Arts Arizona School for the Arts (ASA) is a tuition-free public charter school that combines rigorous academics and the performing arts.

Arizona School for the Arts (ASA) is a nationally recognized college preparatory charter school with an emphasis on conservatory level instruction in the performing arts for grades 5-12. ASA serves more than 800 students and sits in the heart of the downtown Phoenix arts district. ASA has established key partnerships with the Valley’s most renowned cultural and performing arts organizations in order to provide the finest instruction and opportunities possible in the performing arts to Arizona students.

We were thrilled to welcome Masterclass guest, harpsichordist Tigran Buniatyan, to campus recently! 🎶

Tigran joined some of our students, along with Ms. Allen, for a reading of a Corelli Trio Sonata. Piano students also had the chance to get hands-on with the harpsichord!

Thank you, Tigran, for sharing your expertise with our student artists and letting them experience this unique instrument for themselves!

The 3rd Annual Inca Bridge Building Challenge is happening today in Ms. Haywood’s classroom!

Some of our Upper School students are putting their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork to the test as they prep their designs they have been building over the last couple of days for the challenge.

This is just the beginning… 👀 Stay tuned to see which team’s bridge can go the distance and if they can beat the 2024 record. 🌉

We were thrilled to welcome Daniel Kim, cello professor at Columbus State University, to ASA for a special masterclass last week! 🎻

Professor Kim worked with three of our cello student artists — Justin (12) Gavin (12), and Madison (10) — as they prepared David Popper’s Requiem, Op. 66 for the upcoming Regional Orchestra Festival on September 25.

Our Lower School Strings and Piano students also had the chance to observe, listen, and learn from a professional musician. What an incredible opportunity to learn beyond the classroom!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ What a way to kick off the season! Our Cross Country team competed at the Trinity Mile High Invite in Prescott last weekend, taking on challenging hills and 5,000-foot elevation.

🙌 Highlights included Robert C. (10th grade) improving by more than two minutes from last year, Oliver J. (9th grade) and Ray B. (9th grade) completing their first 5Ks, and strong finishes from Bradley C. (8th grade), Stella D. (5th grade), who placed 8th overall in her division, and Cora Y. (5th grade), who finished her first XC race with a smile!
