Getting my morning chai and coffee for a co-worker, and as I pulled out I guess I was not moving fast enough. Some guy (maybe his caffeine didn’t kick in yet…) gave me the look like he wanted to destroy my world. I felt it…

I get back to the office and as soon as I pull in, both cups just tip over and spill all over the car. They were sitting in the holder on the floor. Survived the ride back to the office but as soon as I parked it’s like they jumped out the damn crate.

I was wearing protection ….. 🪬🪬🪬so you may ask.. how in the hell did that happen?

Well I know what happened, it’s a mess to clean but nothing at all serious. Without my protection, could have been in a car accident . Guy could have crashed out and went after me in road rage..🤷🏽‍♀️

Remember, Protection blocks those things we can’t see because it didn’t have a chance to hurt us.

Probably Not.

Decoration Day is historical . It was “founded” on May 1st 1865 in South Carolina. Newly freed Black citizens re-buried 257 Union soldiers from mass graves into proper plots, staging a massive parade of 10,000 people to honor the fallen.

Despite this profound African American contribution to the holiday's roots, the narrative was heavily altered during the Reconstruction and Jim Crow eras to reunite white Americans, which largely erased the emancipationist and Black origins of the day.

Donating some old furniture to Habitat for Humanity this morning..

Saw an old Rocking Chair there and it reminded me of what my elders taught me.. what I remember seeing..

I learned…

Never leave a rocking chair empty as Unwanted Spirits will make themselves at home and sit in there. Many times people would place dolls or books there just to hold the space.

Never rock an empty chair with your foot. It called Unwanted Spirits to sit there.

A old Rocking Chair was used as a way to Conjure Spirits.

The back and forth rocking, while singing or praying was believed to pull Spirits from their world and into ours.

Once you know this, you never look at furniture the same way…

Pile it on! 😂

We found such a beautiful space this evening for the first dry run for our initiation ceremony. Ancestors showed up as hummingbirds and gave their nod of approval.

Helping to craft this with the other members of our collective has been such a soulful experience.

As one being born into my ancestral tradition, this initiation will add another dimension and deeper meaning to my spiritual work I offer for the community.

There is something sacred and powerful about formally being brought into something greater than yourself, and also becoming part of it.

Is the greatest gift my Ancestors have helped me with attaining, and the best gift I continually give to myself.

As a Conjure woman I can help with many things gone awry in people’s life.

But one thing I CANNOT do is create peace in a house, and between people, that do not want it for themselves.

They can burn all the candles they want, have blue “Peace Water” all over the house, but until they understand that Peace is a CHOICE ones makes instead of praying for it- nothing changes.

People have to want Peace for themselves more than the desire to be right, and stronger than the fear of being wrong.

I was taught by my Elders that Peace is a Spirit .

It comes to reside with a family or persons when they have demonstrated they live in such a way that is worthy to receive it.

And it only stays as long as its hosts act in way befitting of its Presence.

If not it will leave..

Peace is not something you make for the other person. It is something you give to yourself so no one can take it away from you.

When you own your peace, you will never make it someone else’s responsibility again.
