I love the way Dearing Acting Studio has been able to adapt to the new times and offer a variety of online options for their classes, as a performer myself it has been hard to gain in person experience and having these outlets makes life just a little easier! That being said, I wanted to let the page know of re-release I’m currently anticipating called “Ruby in Paradise”. The film is critically acclaimed and heavily awarded, stars Ashley Judd in her Breakout role as main character Ruby Gissing, a young woman struggling to navigate her new found independence; plus it has been recommended by none other than Roger Ebert! With such an impressive history I’m sure it will be an incredibly entertaining addition to my movie nights as well as a great example of realistic acting to expand my understanding of the art. You can watch the film next week, February the 16th on platforms like iTunes, Amazon, and Vudu, the official trailer can be found on Quiver Distribution’s YouTube channel.

- 2 Attractive Professional Females. Ages between 23-33. Must be believable with feeling uncomfortable in certain situations. Less about being disgusted but more so about being uncomfortable with how a male co worker is treating her or approaching her. Professional attire.
- 2 Professional Males. Ages between 23-33. These guys need to be good looking but not overly attractive. Must be able to exude arrogance and confidence in themselves in different situations.
- 1 Professional Male (management material). Age between 45-55. This will be a small speaking role. Will be talking straight to camera about a particular platform for reporting inappropriate behavior in the work place.

The way this page supports learning all aspects of the film industry reminds me of Joey Kern’s new work in the movie, Big Bear. It is really inspiring to see him write, direct and star in his own movie. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s about four college buddies who get together to celebrate one of their bachelor party. It’s all fun and reckless until they find out the soon-to-be groom has been dumped by the no-longer-bride. From there, things get very The-Hangover meets John-Tucker-Must-Die but keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. If you are looking for some inspiration on how to hone the craft in every way, the movie comes out on Friday at the AMC Theatres -AMC Arizona Center 24.
I enjoyed studying with Mathew, who is a dedicated and stimulating acting coach and director and a great guy all around. The entire staff was helpful and supportive.

Take the time to learn improv by actively watching great improv. Last night had a chance to watch one of the best pushing and challenging himself in new ways. Colin Mochrie while onstage in his final game told the audience part of the reason he does this new show and the final game is to continue to stay surprised and challenge himself. This is what makes him great. Even as one of the most well known improvisers he continues to find ways to grow and stretch himself in the craft. Thank you for showing us growth is the way. Check out Hyprov. An improv show where the actors are hypnotized volunteers. Incredibly entertaining.
