Washington High School’s Interactors Club, a proud member of the Glendale Union High School District, recently volunteered at Andre House. While volunteering, the club served more than 400 meals to those in need. Interactors Club is a service club for youth aged between 14 to 18 years.

COMMUNITY VACCINATION EVENTS

According to the CDC, AZDHS, and MCDPH, vaccines continue to be another one of the top mitigation strategies to stop the spread of COVID. Health experts at the national, state, and county-level agree on the importance of getting the vaccine to protect yourself and others from COVID. Additionally, increasing the vaccination rate in a community is a key factor in reducing the spread of the virus.

As a service to our community, GUHSD has finalized details with health providers to once again host two COVID-19 vaccination events.

Here are the details:

When: Wednesday, August 25th

Time: 3:30-7:30 pm

We are excited to welcome students back on August 9.

Freshmen report to the main gym by 8:00 am for an assembly and opening day activities.

Sophomores report to the practice gym by 8:00 am for an assembly and opening day activities.

Juniors and seniors should arrive on campus by 10:15 am

Classes begin at 10:30 for all students.

Student schedules can be viewed on StudentVUE starting Sunday, August 8. Juniors and seniors needing a hard copy of their schedule can get one Monday, August 9 in the TMR. Freshmen and sophomores can get a hard copy at their assembly.

Any student who did not attend Walk-Through Registration will need to report to the media center at 8:00 am on Monday, August 9.

July 23, 2020 – The following information was sent to all parents via email and phone dialer.

Dear GUHSD Parents/Guardians,

This update is to inform you that our remote learning plan for all GUHSD schools will begin Monday, August 10 and will remain in place until at least Friday, September 4. This decision is based on the data indicating that we will not meet the GUHSD Reopening Task Force criteria to transition to the hybrid in-person model anytime soon.

The GUHSD Reopening Task Force recommendations, which include a consistent downward trend in COVID-19 cases and up-to-date advice from national, state, and local health agencies, will continue to be used as a guide when making future decisions. As we approach the September 4 date, we will reassess the situation and announce whether remote learning will be extended again or whether we will start the transition to the hybrid in-person model. Again, our future decisions will be based on the aforementioned criteria.

In order to begin a successful school year, our schools are holding modified walk-through registrations. They will be distributing Chromebooks and other essential materials needed to begin school on August 10. All schools are following strict social distancing guidelines and will be requiring those in attendance to wear masks/face coverings. Information on walk-through registration is being sent directly from the schools.



We will continue to provide regular updates. Our schools will continue to inform you of updates as well.

2020 Walk-Through Registration Dates
In preparation for the first day of school remotely, we will be holding a modified walk-thru registration, which will include many safety measures. Faculty and staff will be wearing gloves and masks and numerous locations throughout the campus will be used to ensure social distancing requirements are met during registration.
We will be providing only the essentials needed for students to begin school.
Masks will be required
Our freshmen registration will run on July 22nd and 23rd
Sophomore, Junior and Senior registration will run July 28th – 31st.

Remembering Mickey McGee, Phoenix drummer who played with Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne Phoenix drummer Mickey McGee worked with Linda Ronstadt after launching his career with Goose Creek Symphony. The musician has died of COVID-19.
