Our first meetup for “The Build” BLKMEN Book Study gave us plenty to reflect on. 📚✊🏾

We began with Malcolm in the Desert by Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz, the daughter of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz. Exploring its spiritual foundation, Hajj, and the different pilgrimages we experience throughout life. We discussed how a journey can challenge what we believe, deepen our faith, and change how we see ourselves and others. That gave us room to reflect on our own journeys and what they’re teaching us as men.

Much appreciation to every brother who showed up, shared, and listened, and to Grassrootz Bookstore & Cafe for making space for the build.

Next up: An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. Grab your copy and join us November 22 at 9 a.m. at Grassrootz, 1145 E. Washington St., Phoenix.

Register at www.grassrootzbookstore.com. Let’s keep building.

Our history has many voices. HistoFest needs yours.

We’re calling on people of all ages and abilities to help bring A Cavalcade of Souls to life. Dancers, drummers, artists, sewists, builders, families—there’s a place for you in this story.

The Cavalcade takes place February 27, 2027. Roles are being assigned this fall, with rehearsals and preparation leading up to the event.

🚨 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗢𝗙𝗔 𝟰 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦! 🚨
We’ve realized that the transformation our scholars are experiencing is more than Saturday recreation. This is real character development, cultural grounding, confidence-building, and leadership preparation.

So we’re creating a dedicated space for it:

💻 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗼𝗳𝗮 𝟰 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 — 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘

Scholars ages 9–16 will meet live each Sunday for Black history, Afrikan proverbs, ancestor reverence, leadership development, and character-building.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀: 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
Time: 4:00–5:30 PM ET
𝟴-𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁: $𝟭𝟴𝟬
𝗔 𝗟𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲: $𝟮𝟱/𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

This is not a prerecorded course. It is live, interactive, online instruction in real time.

Know Your History. Build Your Character. Lead Your Future.

🔥 𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘄.
