A Biweekly online critique circle?
I’ve been thinking about creating something small and ongoing for photographers who want to keep growing in a deeper, more sustained way.
After many years of teaching workshops and critique classes, I’m opening a biweekly online critique circle built around honest feedback, thoughtful conversation, and long-term creative growth. The focus isn’t only technique, but learning to see more clearly, photograph more personally, and stay connected to why we make images in the first place.
This will be a small group, limited to sixteen photographers, meeting every two weeks with a quarterly commitment so the work and the relationships have time to develop. The Spring circle will meet on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM Mountain Time from March 18 through May 27.
I wanted to share it here first, since many of you have been part of my teaching world for a long time.
If this resonates with you, send me a message or email me [email protected] with the subject line “Critique Circle,” and I’ll share the details.

"Photography is not a competitive sport but it does grow and improve with comparison and critique".
So you enjoy photography and want to get better. This four-session class will meet online once every 2 weeks for two hours online via Zoom. Each student will receive a study guide with the basic criteria we will be working on. For each session students will receive an assignment 2 weeks in advance. We will then meet and compare, contrast and constructively critique each other's work. Students will be encouraged to work together on assignments. I've seen a number of friendships and groups of "shooting buddies" grow out of these sessions. And typically more than half of the participants repeat the class one or more times. Sign up early! This class is limited to 8 photographers!

End of Blue Hour on Lewis and Clark Lake. Photographed from Calumet Bluff. This is a Photoshop, Automated Merge to HDR Pro of a 5 stop +/- bracket. Shot in Manual mode, I bracketed via shutter speed. The blue sky was achieved by setting White Balance to "Incandescent".
