Congratulations to our adult EL participants for graduating this week! 🎉 They worked hard all semester to improve their English. 💜
WHS partnered with Abrazo to establish a permanent art display for our art program at their Central Campus. New pieces will be added each year to show off our students’ talent. 🎨
The dance show "Let's Go to the Movies!" is tonight and tomorrow at 7 pm. 💃🏻🕺🏽Tickets will be $8 on GoFan starting at 3 for today’s show.
Spanish 3-4 students made books in Spanish to teach the preschool children Spanish. Thanks to Mr. Swigart and Mrs. Dudo for collaborating on this special project! 💜
Every year, Starbucks does a "Start the Parks" event. This year they chose Washington Park and extended that to Washington High School as well. 🙌 We are so grateful for our partnership with our local Starbucks and appreciate all that they do to give back. 💜
Congrats to Ramsey Thompson who has accrued over 100k in scholarships so far! 🎉 He’s one of only 5 students in AZ to win the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship which includes a paid internship with Amazon. Check out the list of scholarships he’s compiled:
1. ASU New American University - $64,000
2. Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship - $40,000 + Summer Internship at Amazon at my freshman year
3. Horatio Alger Danny Sanford Arizona State University - $10,000
4. Team 24 Athlete Scholarship - $3,000
This week Rams United hosted their own prom in the practice gym. The theme was “Be Our Guest” with Beauty and the Beast decor, food, and music. Thank you to Mrs. Mickelson, Mrs. Hanna, Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Castro, and Mrs. Jones who organized this beautiful event!
The boys’ volleyball team were invited by GCU’s team to attend a match last Friday night🏐Thanks to Lopes for making the experience special! 💜
The Washington Business and IT Chapters of FBLA traveled to Tucson April 8-10 for the FBLA State Competition. All 23 students performed impressively, and 11 students qualified for Nationals, which will be held in Orlando, Florida.🎉
In addition, Gustavo Serrano Guzman was awarded a $1000 scholarship from FBLA! Congrats to Mrs. McGinnis and the FBLA students! 💜

More CTE success at WHS! 💜 Mrs. Dudo, our Early Childhood Education teacher, won the Spirit of Advising Award at the FCCLA conference in Tucson. This award is given to chapter advisors who consistently and quietly work behind the scenes to ensure the success of her students.

Washington Preschool is thrilled to announce that we have officially moved to a 5-star rating on the Quality First Rating Scale with First Things First Arizona. NHS students volunteered at a local elementary school to help them with a spring festival fundraiser. They started at 7 AM setting up tents where classes were putting up booths for kids to play games and win prizes. They stayed the entire event to make sure everyone was safe and having a good time. Great job to all the students who helped!

Four of our tennis students received the New American Scholarship to ASU for participating in the PASS summer tennis program. 🎾Each recipient will receive $32,000 over their four years at ASU. Congrats to Adrian, Ramsey, Huda, and Aurora! 🎉

In honor of Leap Day, WHS held a Leap into Success day at lunch. Students made motivational bracelets to help them reach their goals, answered ACT trivia questions, and played volleyball with friends. Shout out to STUGO for pushing students to do their best in and outside of the classroom!

Our Story
Washington High School was established as part of the Glendale Union High School District in 1955. Washington is a part of the College Board’s 2013 National Advanced Placement District of the Year. In addition, Washington has been continuously listed on U.S. News & World Report's Best High School Ranking list. Along with its educational excellence, Washington boasts dozens of opportunities for students to be involved in the community. The Washington High School Interact Club is one of the largest and most active in the country, committing to at least two community service projects a week. Washington High School is located in Phoenix, off 23rd Avenue and Glendale Avenue.
