🏆Our almost-new tennis courts are also lined for pickleball, and today in Mr. Joy's P.E. class, we continued a pickleball tournament that began earlier in the week. The kids have picked up the sport pretty quickly.

🌱 Phoenix High School FFA students are digging into hands-on learning with agricultural science teacher Lauren Papke!

Yesterday, our beginning and advanced teams competed against other Southwestern Oregon District chapters at the District Soils Judging Contest at Rusted Gate Farms in Central Point.

👏 Congratulations to our advanced team—Amaya Larios, Maddie Alley, Gracie Knapp and KC Hoffman—for earning fourth place!

Students identified soil types, structures and horizons (layers), examining the soil and surrounding landscape to assess soil health. Way to grow your skills, Pirates! 🏴‍☠️

Some of our biology students were studying carrying capacity this week, planting different numbers of beans and using variable resources like sun and water to learn how populations respond to the availability of resources. If you have a student in these classes, ask them about their experiments.
