Congratulations to Pastor Center for Politics and Public Service alumnus Cyrus Commissariat for being named to the Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF) Alumni Hall of Fame! After serving on ASU's AGF chapter, promoting student voter participation and political engagement, and as a Spirit of Service Scholar, Cyrus graduated from ASU in 2021 with degrees in history, political science, and French, and went on to complete his Juris Doctorate and Tax LLM from Northwestern Law.
Cyrus was selected for this alumni recognition by the Andrew Goodman Foundation for exemplifying, in their words, "our vision that young people will become active, engaged community members who are fighting for a sustainable and just future."
Way to go, Cyrus!!
Pray for Arizona! This November, voters will have no fewer than 14 BALLOT MEASURES to decide, 11 referred by the legislature and 3 citizen initiatives. They're all quite dense and complicated. And that's not even counting all the judges up for retention elections!
If your organization would like help navigating the choices that will be on the ballot this year, let us know. The ASU Ed Pastor Center for Politics & Public Service will be offering workshops to walk through the meaning of a "Yes" vote and a "No" vote for each question, and answering other questions about voting in this year's elections.
Or you can check out the info yourself on the AZ Secretary of State's website here:

Did you know that *anyone* can submit an argument for or against any of the ballot measures that voters will decide this November, and have it published in the informational booklet sent to all registered voters by the Secretary of State? It's true! It just needs to be under 300 words, and you pay $75 to have it included in the pamphlet. Consider it! This November's ballot will be very lengthy with a long list of ballot measures, and voters will need all the help they can get making an informed decision.

Confused by voter registration mailers from the "Voter Participation Center" (VPC) or the "Center for Voter Information" (CVI)? We've received these too, which can be concerning for people who are already registered to vote. Please note these official-looking forms are not from official election offices, but rather from private organizations working to increase voter participation. Here's an advisory from the AZ Secretary of State's office:
"VPC and CVI have sent voter registration forms to residents in all 15 counties. The voter registration solicitation forms were not approved or sent by the Secretary of State or County Recorder offices.
While the registration form that Voter Participation Center and the Center for Voter Information is using is not the final State form that was created by the Secretary of State's office, it is in compliance with the recent court rulings and legislative changes, and will be processed by the County Recorders...
Voters may receive these documents shortly after the mailing dates of May 23, August 24, and September 15. If you receive a form and are already registered, no action is required, your voter registration remains active. However, we encourage all voters to verify their registration status and update any outdated information through the official state site at www.arizona.vote.
Please see the following deadlines to register to vote or update your information:
• Primary Election: July 1, 2024
• General Election: October 7, 2024

🌟 Reflecting on an Inspiring Celebration of the 33rd Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act! 🎉
We were truly honored to host a remarkable event commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) back on July 26, 2023, at Ability360. The occasion was a testament to the progress we've made and the collective dedication towards creating a more inclusive world.
💬 From engaging panel discussions to uplifting stories of resilience, our event showcased the transformative impact of the ADA. We heard from passionate advocates, individuals with disabilities, and allies who shared their experiences and insights, sparking meaningful conversations about the importance of accessibility and equal opportunities.
🙌 The sense of unity and determination in the room was truly inspiring. It was heartwarming to witness a diverse community coming together to celebrate achievements, while also recognizing the work that lies ahead. As we reflect on the past and look to the future, we're reminded of the significance of continued collaboration and advocacy.
A huge thank you to all our speakers, attendees, and supporters who made this event a success.
