In 1946, Ynes Mexia made her mark on the field of botany as one of the first female botanists to explore the Americas. Born in 1870, she began her scientific journey later in life, collecting over 145,000 plant specimens, many new to science, during her adventurous expeditions. What set Ynes apart was not just her age or her dedication, but her relentless spirit. She journeyed through remote jungles and mountains, documenting flora with precision and passion. Her efforts led to the discovery of 50 plant species named in her honor, proving that age is no barrier to groundbreaking achievements. Her work paved the way for future generations of women in science, highlighting the value of exploration and curiosity. 🌿🌏📸
