This boost in academic performance was seen regardless of gender, background, or family income proving that a dad’s involvement matters for every child.

MODES can be very confusing!! In my opinion, it is the way they are explained.
Grab a piece of paper and write down CDEFGABC (The Major Scale). Then write W-W-H-W-W-W-H these are the intervals (distance between tones) of the letters above.
This is the Ionian Mode.

Start at the letter D next, for the Dorian Mode. DEFGABCD W-H-W-W-W-H-W are the intervals because the letters start in a different place
Apply it to the letter C you get C D Eb F G A Bb C that's why we say Flat 3rd Flat 7th. Comparing it to the Major Scale.

E starts the Phrygian Mode. EFGABCDE ..H-W-W-W-H-W-W
Apply it to the letter C you get C Db Eb F G Ab Bb C that's why we say Flat 2nd Flat 3rd Flat 6th Flat 7th. Comparing it to the Major Scale.

For the Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian (The Natural Minor Scale) and Locrian Modes, follow the same system.
