Legacy Traditional School - Phoenix

Legacy Phoenix Firebirds “Gray Team” hit the court for its first games this season, playing Legacy Maricopa Lions and Legacy East Mesa Rams on Saturday. While the first game against Maricopa was a loss, the girls put aside their nerves to fight and improve each set! Saniya and Emma showed awesome teamwork at the net working off each other to keep the game competitive. In the second match-up against Legacy East Mesa Rams, the team came out more confident winning the first set 25-22 forcing the match to three sets! Kieanna showed her power serves with 11 aces and Amaya and Alora showed great teamwork and communication at the net. The girls left it all on the court and Coach Drye couldn’t be more proud as they look forward to their next games at home on Sept. 9.

Junior High Firebird Families -
We are now taking donations in the front office to put towards funding our Value Days at the end of each quarter. We are hoping to make each one as enjoyable and memorable as possible and really need your help to do so!

The Legacy Volleyball team completed its first home game Tuesday sweeping Basis-Peoria 2-0. 8th grader Destiny Parra was the leading server completing both sets with 10 points in aced serves. 8th grade Riley Spain assisted many of her teammates in kills and helped keep the positive energy on the court with her great leadership as one of our Team Captains. 7th grader Miranda Gutierrez finished the game off with 4 serves to win the second match. Our intramural teams competed in their first Saturday games this weekend at Legacy Surprise. Coach Parham (baseball) and Coach Sledge (volleyball) report both teams had a fun day of competition. Coach Drye will take our other intramural volleyball team to Legacy Avondale on August 26 for their first games of the season. All three teams will be back in action on Sept. 9 as our campus will host volleyball and baseball intramural games. Go Firebirds!!!

The Legacy Phoenix CAA Volleyball team came away with its first win of the season Friday against AMS-Avondale sweeping them 2-0. 8th grader Neveah Romo lead the team with 12 aces across both sets. 7th grader Miranda Gutierrez finished the game with 5 aces and Maleah Morales finished the second set with 5 aces and a final aced serve to win the game. 8th grader Kaia Winston-Mendez was aggressive at the net leading the team with 5 kills and responding to AMS with 2 blocks! What a game! Make sure to join us Tuesday @ 4:30 for our first home game of the season! Go Firebirds!

AFTERNOON UPDATE:

Legacy - Phoenix Families,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to repair a power outage that required us to close our elementary school building today, August 17. We are happy to report that our elementary building will reopen tomorrow, August 18, for in-person learning.

Due to the water damage associated with the power outage, some classes will need to be relocated to complete repairs in affected classrooms. If your child’s class will need to move, you will receive a separate notification shortly.

As shared this morning, we will be rescheduling Curriculum Night and will communicate a new date and time soon. Additionally, Friday assessments for students in grades K-5 will be re-evaluated and teachers will be in contact with families concerning grades. Your child’s grades will not be affected by this outage.

For students in grades K-5, please log in to Schoology by the end of the day to access class materials and be marked present for the school day. If your child has any issues logging in to Schoology at http://legacyaz.schoology.com/ using their username and password, please email your child’s teacher.

For Driveline this afternoon, please use only the Blue and Yellow lanes when picking up your junior high student. Red and Green lanes will only be closed today and reopen tomorrow, August 18.

Legacy - Phoenix Families,

The Legacy - Phoenix campus is experiencing a power outage that will require our school building to close today, August 17. Due to the outage, students in grades K-5 should remain home today and complete schoolwork using Schoology.

Students in grades 6-8 may report to campus for school today as the outage is contained in our elementary school building.

Students can find their class materials in Schoology, and can login at http://legacyaz.schoology.com/ using their username and password.

As a reminder, if your child uses a computer with your Google account automatically logged in, be sure to log out of your Google account before your child attempts to log in to Schoology. You cannot have two Google accounts logged in simultaneously when accessing Schoology. If you have issues logging in to Schoology, please email your child’s teacher.
Curriculum Night Rescheduled

Curriculum Night, which was scheduled for this evening, will be rescheduled. We will communicate a new date and time in the coming days.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this outage. We anticipate school will resume as normal tomorrow, Friday, August 18, and will stay in contact with you if the situation changes.

Gifted Student Testing For the RISE Program 💡🧪🔬🎁

Is your child highly curious and asks lots of questions? If you think your child may be gifted, pick up a gifted packet in the front office and read through the qualities of a gifted child. If you would like your child tested for the RISE program, packets are due back no later than Thursday August 31st Any student whose packet is not turned in by August 31st will be tested during the next testing session in November and December. If you have a child who has already qualified for gifted services at another school; please bring in documentation and turn it into the front office so they can be registered for the RISE program (students do not have to test again). 🥦 Legacy Traditional School - Phoenix has been awarded the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grant this school year by the Arizona Department of Education Health and Nutrition Services! 🥦

Students will receive a free fresh fruit or vegetable weekly on Tuesday and Thursday. Teachers will also share nutrition education activities in the classroom to increase students’ knowledge of the health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables.

We are excited to introduce our students to a variety of unique fruits and vegetables this school year!
