USA Martial Arts Leaders Honored at International FITA/FIMA Conference in Phoenix
Grandmaster John Nottingham Named Grandmaster of the Year; Senior Master Anthony Miles Receives Krav Maga Combatives Instructor of the Year Award
PHOENIX, Arizona β June 2026 β USA Martial Arts Phoenix proudly announced that two of its senior leaders received prestigious international recognition during the 2026 FITA/FIMA International Training & Awards Conference held in Phoenix, Arizona.
The event brought together martial arts legends, world champions, military trainers, law enforcement professionals, executive protection specialists, authors, and instructors from around the world for three days of advanced training, networking, professional development, and recognition of excellence.
Among the highlights of the conference were two significant honors awarded to members of the USA Martial Arts leadership team.
Grandmaster John Nottingham Receives Grandmaster of the Year
Grandmaster John Nottingham, founder of USA Martial Arts, Violence Survival School, and Nottingham Sword & Shield Security, was recognized as Grandmaster of the Year for his decades of contributions to martial arts education, leadership development, personal protection training, and community service.
For more than 40 years, Nottingham has dedicated his life to helping individuals become safer, stronger, and more confident. His career has included training military personnel, law enforcement officers, security professionals, corporate organizations, schools, churches, families, and martial arts students throughout the United States and internationally.
A former Military Intelligence Specialist and Airborne veteran, Nottingham has trained more than 10,000 students and clients during his career while building USA Martial Arts into one of Arizona's most respected martial arts organizations.
"This award is really a reflection of the incredible students, families, instructors, and mentors who have helped shape our journey over the years," Nottingham said. "Everything we do is about serving others and helping people reach their potential."
Senior Master Anthony Miles Named Krav Maga Combatives Instructor of the Year
Senior Master Anthony Miles was inducted into the Israeli Martial Arts Hall of Honors and awarded Krav Maga Combatives Instructor of the Year.
The award recognizes exceptional achievement in self-defense instruction, leadership, technical excellence, and service to the martial arts community.
Miles has become widely respected for his dedication to practical self-defense training, instructor development, and mentorship of students and future leaders within USA Martial Arts. He's has been a Senior instructor at VIPER Violence Survival School for decades, teaching practical protection skills to all ages.
Throughout the conference, Miles taught, trained, networked with industry leaders, and represented the organization with professionalism and humility. He was chosen repeatedly to be a demonstrator even earning the recognition of GM Jeff Speakman stating, " You are a truly great martial artist".
"Master Miles embodies what martial arts is truly about," said Nottingham. "Skill, character, service, leadership, and a commitment to helping others succeed. We could not be more proud of him."
