“This picture was taken in the Palo Verde West dome, where the TRIO Upward Bound program office is located. It was my first time working for ASU and for Upward Bound. TRIO Upward Bound is a college preparatory program for first generation and low income high school students. I have been a part of this college preparatory program since I was a freshman in high school, so there is an emotional attachment to this place. This program gave me the guidance, resources and experiences to help me succeed in college as a low income and first generation student. I have been fortunate enough to have been granted the opportunity to work for this program that has had a significant impact on me.

I also was a Summer Program Assistant two summers in a row in which I took the role of a Success Coach during the 2022-2023 academic school year. As mentioned this program impacted me as an employee but as well as a student of four years. Which is why I took the initiative of giving back to a well dedicated program by trying to make an impact on students similar to my experience as the way my colleagues and mentors did. Majority of my time is spent within TRIO Upward Bound, during the school year and summers, from using the study rooms and other great resources they have to offer, to tutoring students who need support. In the Palo Verde West office, all staff are warm and welcoming, creating a professional, academical and positive environment for anyone who comes in.”

Tomorrow is the big day! The Phoenix Union Foundation for Education's board has set a Giving Tuesday goal of $5,000 this year. Every dollar raised supports student scholarships and teacher mini-grants for the PXU
community, and we'd love for you to join us in donating!

Last year, we awarded more than 60 scholarships totaling over $105,000 to PXU students across the valley in 2023. We also awarded over $25,000 in teacher mini-grants. This year, our goal is to surpass those results - and raising $5,000 on Giving Tuesday
will put us well on our way.
