The Championship Tug of War Contest was so fun! Ms. Manglesdorf's class are the champions although there were a lot of close matches:)
The Desert Sands Scorpions Robotics team competed in the VEX IQ Middle School World Championship this week in Dallas, Texas. All in their first year of robotics, our amazing students, Jaci Homa and Valerie Breidt, made it to Worlds to compete with 800 teams from 48 states and 40 countries.
The Scorpions participated in 10 matches over 2 days with teams from Indiana, Texas and Canada and more and ranked 48 out of 78 in the Design Division.
With the leadership of Coach Christopher Strickland these students persevered and problem solved on the spot in a high pressure environment and learned adaptability and teamwork while also enjoying meeting students from all over the world.
What a great celebration for Cinco de Mayo! We had such authentic Mexican food. What a great staff we have:)

Ms. Pigza arranged for The Trevor Browne Choir to perform for some lucky Desert Sand students today to inspire them to consider joining next year as 8th graders or in high school. It was quite moving when they performed "Treat People with Kindness"--something we can't get enough of.
A proud Scorpion displays the customized cutting board she made in Industrial Arts.
Students were awarded a Tug of War contest for working hard on state tests last week. They competed by homeroom and had so much fun the rope broke! Championship will be next week.
