Phoenix, meet your School Director.

Courtney joined us from our Mesa campus, where she served as School Director and helped students grow both personally and professionally. Now that she’s officially settled into Phoenix, we want to give everyone the chance to get to know her a little better.

She believes in showing up for students, building strong teams, and creating a campus culture that feels motivating and supportive.

We’re excited for this next chapter under her leadership.

Read below to learn more about Courtney.

How long have you been with Avalon, and what originally drew you here? I’ve been with Avalon for 12 years. When I was starting out as a young stylist, I wanted a career in the beauty industry that could support me building a clientele—and Avalon had an opening at the Front Desk. It was the perfect opportunity, and over the years, I’ve loved growing with the school and being part of a team that truly cares about students and education.

How long have you been in the beauty industry and are you still working? Or are you mostly focused on education these days? I’ve been in the beauty industry for 13 years. These days, I’ve stepped away from taking clients so I can really focus on education—and I love having that extra time to spend with my family. It feels good to pour into both my students and the people I love most.

What’s one thing people might not realize about what you do? When I’m not at work, I love camping whenever the weather is nice—it’s my favorite way to unplug, reset, and recharge.

What do you want students to feel when they walk through our doors? I want students to feel excited to be here and genuinely look forward to learning. I also want them to feel supported by Avalon—knowing they have the guidance, resources, and encouragement they need to get the most out of their education.

What originally brought you into beauty education? I’ve always loved helping people and I’ve always been into hair and makeup. Beauty education just felt like a natural fit—it lets me do what I love while helping others grow and find their confidence.

Professional exfoliation ≠ at-home exfoliation
Too much exfoliation can actually damage the skin barrier. 
So, when in doubt, less is more.
 
• Use light pressure — let the product do the work for you!
• Apply in small, gentle circular motions and avoid the eye area and broken skin
• Exfoliate 1–2x per week max (unless professionally directed otherwise)
