Gratitude is extended to the 300+ parents, students, grandparents, and guardians who attended the Pendergast Elementary School Curriculum Night this past Thursday. During the event, the staff discussed student expectations and presented various curriculum resources that are currently being utilized.

We were excited to welcome our 2023/2024 Student Board members to their first meeting last night. Alegra, Joel and Mariah did a fantastic job giving the reports from all 12 campuses. We can't wait to see what this year holds for them!

Too many absences - excused or unexcused - can keep students from succeeding in school and in life. How many is too many? 10% of the school year - that's 18 missed days or 2 days a month - can knock students off track.

Copper King Elementary School PBIS Leader of the P.A.C.K.! CK Coyotes showed that they are a leader of the PACK by wearing camouflage and animal prints. PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support) is a program where every student feels valued, connected to the school community, and supported by caring adults.

Today the 2023-24 8th Grade Superintendent Student Council had their first service project day to work to complete 1000 pillows for kiddos. We would like to thank Iris Oros and Quality Bedding for donating all of the stuffing to support this project for the past nine years.

Chef Doug and Chef Sam from our Food Services Department and Chartwells K12 kicked off their first monthly Discovery Kitchen at Pendergast Elementary School with a "Bring on Breakfast" demonstration! Students had the opportunity to assist our chefs in making strawberry chocolate smoothies and orange cranberry pancakes.

Today we celebrate National Navajo Code Talkers Day and honor the contributions of the Native Americans who brought their unique abilities to the World War II effort. The day also highlights their impact on U.S. code and the Native American language that made it possible.

We are finishing the first week of school with smiles from Villa de Paz Elementary, Garden Lakes Elementary School, Sunset Ridge Elementary School, and Canyon Breeze Elementary School.

🎒📚 We had a fantastic day at our Start Proud assembly! United with our phenomenal partners at the ODP Corporation, we made dreams come true by gifting 750 backpacks, packed to the brim with essential school supplies, to our Desert Mirage Elementary School students. This monumental gesture extends a helping hand to our families, significantly lightening their load. 🙏🎒📚

The Pendergast Community Education Foundation added an extra level of excitement at the kick off event by handing out 2 transition stipend scholarships and 2 free jean days for a year to lucky PESD staff. Congratulations to the winners! The Foundation was also awarded a $10,000 grant from Homes for Heroes to support more scholarships in the future! We are so lucky to have such a supportive Foundation! Our amazing keynote for this year's kick off was Major Amy Soileau, an Active Duty Space Operations Officer in the United States Space Force currently assigned to Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. She is also a Pendergast School District Alumni where she attended Garden Lakes Elementary School from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
