To wrap up our summer, our UB students took part in an ALL NIGHT team-building lock-in!

🎉 Huge thanks to for hosting us and keeping the fun going from 9 PM to 7 AM. From laughter to challenges, the night was full of memories. And yes, everyone survived! 😅✨

Day 5 Wrapping Up an Unforgettable Trip! 🎓🎬🍫

On our last day in LA, we visited USC, where we received a warm welcome from La Casa , a center that celebrates and supports the Latinx community on campus. Huge thanks to Leticia and student staff member Melanie for sharing resources, culture, and encouragement! 🙌❤️

We then toured the beautiful campus with Bella, a proud sister of Kappa Delta Chi, Beta Omega Chapter and had a powerful conversation with Elisa from the First Gen Center—so many inspiring voices guiding our students! 💬✨

Next stop: the Warner Brothers Studio Tour, where students got a behind-the-scenes look at one of LA’s busiest and most iconic working studios. 🎥🎞️

We ended our night (and trip!) with a sweet dinner at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, the perfect treat to close out a trip full of learning, laughter, and lifelong memories. 🍽️🍫

This summer adventure was more than just a trip. It was a celebration of our students’ hard work, growth, and bright futures. They deserved every moment. 💫✈️

Day 4 – A Magical Day at Disneyland! ✨🏰🎢

We spent the day at the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland! But before the fun, our students got a special behind-the-scenes experience, learning about the incredible technology and mechanisms that power the park’s most iconic rides. Huge thanks to the amazing Disneyland staff for giving us such an eye-opening presentation! 🎡🔧

After diving into the magic behind the scenes, our students spent the rest of the day soaking in the joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments that only Disney can bring. Seeing their faces light up with excitement and pure happiness made this day truly unforgettable. 💫❤️

Day 3 in LA! 🎓🎨🌆

We kicked off the day with a visit to UCLA, where we were welcomed by Michael Guerra, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission (and a fellow Texan from the 956 🙌). He shared valuable insights about college life and admissions.

Our campus tour was led by Amerie, a proud member of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. , who showed us the beauty and spirit of UCLA! 💙🐻

Next stop: The Getty Museum — students explored breathtaking exhibits and took in incredible views. 🖼️🌄

We wrapped up the evening with a visit to the TCL Chinese Theatre and dinner at Mel's Drive-In, where we had an inspiring conversation with a San Antonio native chasing her dreams in LA. She’s already starred in plays and we can’t wait to see her on the big screen one day! 🎭🌟

Day 2 in LA! 🌄🎬✨

We kicked off the morning with a hike up to the iconic Griffith Observatory. It was a challenge, but our students crushed it and were rewarded with stunning views of the city! 💪🌇

Next up: a VIP tour through Hollywood and Beverly Hills, where we saw celebrity homes and soaked in some amazing sights. ⭐🏡

We ended the day with a fun stop at Funko Pop Hollywood for some shopping and souvenirs! 🛍️🔥

Day 1 in LA with our UB students! 🌴✈️

Today we kicked off our summer trip with 22 amazing students and 3 awesome staff members — all selected for their outstanding performance during our Upward Bound summer program! 👏🎓

After an early morning flight to Los Angeles, we dove right into the West Coast vibes with visits to Venice Beach and the iconic Santa Monica Pier. ☀️🌊🎡

We had an amazing time visiting Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with our Upward Bound students! 🎓✨ We also had the chance to explore the Texas State Aquarium 🐠🐚 and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with Ms. Dolores, Director of SSS-Teacher Prep 🍽️. A day full of learning, fun, and great company!

🌟 How to Survive and Thrive in College! 🌟

College can be challenging, but with a little effort, you can not only survive but thrive! Here are some tips to help you make the most of your college experience:

1️⃣ Get Involved on Campus: Join clubs, organizations, or sports teams! It’s a great way to meet new people and feel connected.
2️⃣ Make a Study Schedule: Stay on top of assignments and exams with a set routine. Consistency is key!
3️⃣ Eat Healthy & Exercise: Your mind and body work better when they’re well taken care of. Try to eat nutritious meals and find time for physical activity.
4️⃣ Make Friends: Surround yourself with positive, supportive people. It makes college life much more enjoyable!
5️⃣ Seek Help When Needed: Don’t be afraid to reach out—whether it's academic or emotional support. Everyone needs help sometimes!

Remember, college is a journey, not a race. Take it one step at a time, and don’t forget to enjoy the ride! 💪📚
